The broker doesn’t care why the quote was late. They just remember who got back first. That is the brutal part of reinsurance ops. Your best people are not slow. They are buried in the work around the work. Submissions that need triaging. Documents that need reading. Appetite rules that need checking. Slips that need drafting. Bordereaux that need building. Exceptions that need escalating. Decisions that need to stay traceable. Braven gives reinsurance teams agentic infrastructure that completes the operational layer around underwriting. Agents act inside your rules, workflows and compliance requirements. They read submissions, understand appetite, prepare slips, build bordereaux and surface the risks that need a real underwriting decision. Not generic AI. Reinsurance infrastructure that does the work. Your underwriters keep the judgement. Braven clears the path to it. Trusted by 17+ insurers. Live in weeks, not months.

The MGAs winning the best risks are not always the biggest. They are often the ones getting back to brokers first. That advantage is no longer just about underwriting judgement. It is about how quickly a team can move from submission to quote without getting buried in admin. The market is starting to split. Some teams are still stuck triaging submissions, checking appetite, drafting slips and building bordereaux by hand. Others are compressing that operational work and giving underwriters more time to make the actual call. That speed gets noticed. Braven helps MGAs quote faster, stay in control and win more of the right business. Trusted by 17+ insurers. Live in weeks, not months.

Last year, I was closing deals faster than we could deliver. Flying to client offices across 3 continents. Signing contracts. Winning business. And every new deal made the gap bigger between what we were selling and what our product could actually do. Every single one of our clients was unhappy. Everyone. Carlos and I made a tough call: Focus on making the clients we have love us first. We flew to every client we had closed. Sat across from them. Told them exactly where we were and where we weren't. And asked them something most vendors never ask: help us rebuild this. One client told us they needed 100% accuracy. Not 95%. Not "almost always." That changed how we built everything. Another expected something ready to use out of the box. It wasn't. That changed how we onboard. Another didn't trust the platform as their source of truth. That pushed us to build controls that gave them real certainty. We brought every one of those conversations back to our product team. Word for word. Every single thing Braven is today came from a client telling us what was broken and us making sure we fixed it. That crisis didn't almost kill us. It built us. Today we're announcing $4.6M in funding and a new name. If you run underwriting ops and you've felt like your tools were built by people who never sat in your chair, that's why we built Braven with clients in the room. Not after. During. To our clients: you were brave first. Thank you, Carlos Chavez and the whole Braven team.

A reinsurance actuary with 24 years of experience told me something that should make every insurance leader uncomfortable. She spends half a day to a full day per submission just formatting data. Not analyzing risk. Not pricing. Formatting. Copying. Pasting. Reformatting broker data from horizontal to vertical because that's how pricing models actually receive it. And she's not alone. This is the norm across the reinsurance market. Here's what that actually costs: Renewal season is roughly 6 weeks. If your actuaries are burning half their time reformatting messy submissions, you're getting 3 weeks of actual pricing work out of a 6-week window. That's not an efficiency problem. That's a capacity problem disguised as "the way it's always been done." The craziest part? Every broker formats data differently. Even within the same broker firm, different teams present data differently. There is no standard template. So you've got highly skilled, highly paid professionals manually converting Excel files because the submission came in the wrong orientation. Dr. Ana Mata PhD, ACAS, put it simply on our podcast: "Standardization would be the key. But every broker has a preference on how they present data." The market has accepted this as normal. It's not normal. It's half your pricing capacity walking out the door every renewal season. If your team is spending more time organizing submissions than analyzing risk, that's not a people problem. That's a workflow problem no one wants to admit. What's the most time-consuming manual task your team still does every renewal season? Link to the full episode: https://lnkd.in/eA6JjHax

Here's how oversight actually works for most MGA programs: Month 1: MGA fills out the bordereaux. Month 2: Carrier/Reinsurer finds errors. Sends corrections. Month 3: MGA finally submits clean data. That's a 90-day window. In a business where one bad quarter of pricing can destroy three years of profitability. I asked Joe Joseph Petrelli, who's evaluated the financial stability of insurance companies for four decades, how carriers and reinsurers should actually be monitoring MGA performance. His answer surprised me. He didn't say "better dashboards." He didn't say "more data." He said, "Get in the weeds. Talk to the CSRs. Talk to the people issuing the policies. Understand how your contract is being executed at the individual client level." Not lunch meetings with the CEO. Not quarterly board decks. Boots on the ground. Because looking at premium volume and loss ratios after the fact? That's too late. As one of my coaches once told me: "You're notified by a feather, then by a brick, then you get hit by a truck." Most carriers and reinsurers act when the truck arrives. The best ones feel the feather. The question is: does your oversight model give you feathers or trucks? Full episode: https://lnkd.in/exUu-Ju7
