Edward underwent surgery after being diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. However, it was a biopsy following that surgery that revealed cancer cells in his prostate. At the time, Edward was advised that no further treatment was needed, but his specialist recommended a blood test every six months to monitor for changes. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men. PSA testing can help detect changes that need further investigation and is also used to monitor prostate cancer following diagnosis and treatment.
