Customer experience is often discussed through technology, branding, or loyalty programs. But in retail, customer experience is still deeply human. It is shaped in real time by: • frontline teams, • manager effectiveness, • responsiveness, • and execution consistency across stores. The strongest retail brands are not only investing in customer experience. They are investing in the organizational systems that support frontline excellence. This is one of the themes we’ll discuss in our upcoming webinar: “Reimagining Retail Stores: From Feedback to Revenue at Scale” Date: 11th June Time: 3:00 PM IST #CustomerExperience #RetailLeadership #StoreExperience #RetailTransformation #RetailOperations #FrontlineTeams all things people

Store employee experience can lift retail revenue by 50%. 2018 - Walmart patented audio listening technology to understand what was happening near checkout counters. 2022 - 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐝 Business Review found that better employee experience could increase store revenue by more than 50%. 2024 - 𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐲 found that retailers with strong employee experience are more than twice as likely to deliver strong customer experience. 2025 - 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 and Salesforce started pushing AI tools to help store associates work faster, serve better, and reduce daily friction. The message is clear. Retail is no longer only about listening to customers and serving them best.. It is also about understanding the employees who create the customer experience every day. More retail companies are now investing in employee experience because they are realising one thing clearly: Better frontline experience can become a direct revenue advantage. This is exactly what we are discussing in our webinar, Reimagining Retail Stores: From Feedback to Revenue at Scale. Join us on June 11, 3:00 to 4:30 PM IST. Walmart proves one thing clearly: frontline employees are retail growth enablers. The shift: Walmart is adding trained beauty experts inside some of its stores. These employees will help customers choose makeup, skincare products, trending items, and the right shades based on their needs. The pilot has already started across 22 stores, and Walmart plans to expand this to 425+ stores by year-end. Why is this interesting? Because even when online shopping is growing, customers still want human advice in categories like beauty. A customer may ask: “Which product suits my skin tone?” “What should I buy for my skin type?” “Which product is better for my concern?” A regular store employee may help the customer find the product. But a trained beauty expert does more than assist. They guide choices, build confidence, influence purchases, and improve the overall store experience. And when this happens consistently across stores, revenue naturally follows. This is exactly why retail performance cannot be separated from people strategy. At all things people, this is the belief we work with: people are critical to business strategy. Using our People Science framework for a leading retail client, we saw significant impact across store performance, customer experience, and frontline outcomes. To discuss this further, we are hosting a webinar: Reimagining Retail Stores: From Feedback to Revenue at Scale Hear directly from Vishal Gupta, CEO, eB2B and EVP, Consumer Beauty Brands, Nykaa, and Sandeep Sengupta, CHRO, Novel Jewels, Aditya Birla Group, as they share practical lessons from scaling retail businesses in India. A focused conversation for retail CEOs, CHROs, and business leaders on how people science can improve store-level performance. Limited seats. Your best sales tool isn't your product range. It's the person standing in front of it. And right now that person is being measured on everything except the one thing that determines whether a walk-in becomes a purchase. How do they feel about their manager? How connected are they to their team? How proud are they of where they work? When those three things are right, something shifts on the floor that no training module can replicate. The conversation changes. The energy changes. The customer feels it before they can explain it and they buy. When those three things are wrong, your footfall numbers mean nothing. Customers walk in. Customers walk out. And nobody connects it to what was happening on the other side of that interaction. This is not a motivation problem. It is a visibility problem. The retailers who solved it didn't find a better incentive scheme. They built a system that could finally see what was happening with their people store by store, manager by manager, shift by shift before it showed up as a number on a quarterly report. • Walmart used it to recover nine years of declining sales. • Wegmans used it to make 81% annual attrition completely optional. • Decathlon used it to scale the same culture across 93,000 people in 56 countries. • DMart used it to build operational consistency across hundreds of stores before an employee ever reached the floor. The framework that connects all four is now free to download. The New Retail Execution Framework: Where Employee Experience Converts Into Revenue Real mechanisms. Real retailers. Most retail training programmes are built on a fundamental assumption that has never been tested properly: That if you teach someone how to do the job well enough, they will want to keep doing it. They won't. Not today's workforce. Not the frontline employee who is benchmarking their experience against three other offers in their inbox, a gig economy alternative that pays on their schedule, and a competitor down the road who just announced a ₹500 increment. Training that tells people what to do does not build loyalty. Training that shows people where they are going does. There is a significant difference between the two and most retail organizations are spending their entire L&D budget on the first kind while wondering why the second outcome never arrives. The organizations that cracked this did not spend more on training. They changed what training was for. Walmart invested $2.7 billion not in classrooms, but in building a workforce that could see a future inside the organization. Cashiers became drone technicians. Floor staff became robot supervisors. The training was not about the job they had. It was about the career the organization was willing to build with them. When an employee can see where they are going inside your organization, a ₹2,000 offer from outside, it becomes genuinely uninteresting. That is not loyalty. That is a better value proposition. The New Retail Execution Framework: Where Employee Experience Converts Into Revenue The development frameworks behind Walmart, Wegmans, DMart and Decathlon's retention numbers are free to download.
