Box and OpenAI are partnering to bring governed enterprise content to AI-powered legal work with Astra for Law and ChatGPT. Legal skills built on Box and ChatGPT help law firms turn their content into practical, secure workflows, combining OpenAI's intelligence with Box's governed content foundation. In this demo, a legal professional uses the new Outside Counsel Guidelines skill to review an incoming set of OCGs stored in Box. ChatGPT flags associated risks and leaves comments for human review. The content never left Box. Existing permissions stayed intact throughout. And a person still owns the final call. This is what Box as the file system for AI looks like for legal teams: enterprise content connected to the models and agents legal professionals choose, while Box remains the place where that content is organized, governed, and managed. Watch here. 👇

Blocking downloads isn't enough anymore. AI agents don't need to download a file to read it. If a connected integration can preview a document, it can comprehend the content and reproduce what's inside. From a data loss prevention perspective, an LLM reading a file is functionally the same as downloading it, and most enterprise security policies weren't built with that distinction in mind. The controls that kept content safe from human misuse were designed around a click, a download, and an audit log. Agents don't click. They call APIs, read text representations, and answer questions on behalf of a user in seconds. Governing what an agent can read is now as important as governing what it can download. The diagram walks through the full enforcement path.

Process lives in ServiceNow. Content lives in Box. Today we are connecting the two natively. Introducing Box for ServiceNow, a certified integration now available on the ServiceNow Store that puts your Box content directly on the ServiceNow record where work is already happening. Before today, even with automation in place, the person working a ticket, case, or contract had no native way to open, preview, or share the relevant Box content without leaving ServiceNow and switching to Box. Box for ServiceNow closes that gap. A Box panel sits directly on the ServiceNow record, so teams can navigate folders, preview files, upload, and share content without switching systems. Every record gets its own Box folder, created automatically, across ITSM, HR service delivery, CSM, CRM, or any custom module. And because your files stay in Box rather than being copied into ServiceNow, every governance policy you already have on them stays in place. Version control, classification, legal hold, and retention all follow the file. FINRA, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP included. Box remains the source of truth for your content. ServiceNow remains the system of record for your process.

Extracting critical business data at scale is only useful if teams can trust the results. Confidence levels and bounding boxes in Box Extract help teams quickly identify which extracted values may need review and verify them directly against the source content, reducing the effort required to validate extraction results. See it in action with a clinical trial protocol use case. 👇

Always-on agents can keep working between prompts, checking in on their own schedules and taking action. That raises a question for enterprises: what should agents be able to access, and what actions should they be able to take? Our CTO Ben Kus: “The idea of giving these agents access to critical data, or to take actions on your behalf, is something many enterprises haven’t gotten comfortable with yet, because of the implications of misaligned agents or agents just doing something you didn’t expect.” Enterprise-grade always-on agents are coming, and enterprises are still working through the controls, governance, and oversight needed to deploy them at scale. Closing that readiness gap is the work ahead.
