The new 2025 McGrathNicol report highlights a significant change in how Australian organisations are dealing with cyber extortion, moving away from payment-dependent strategies and toward proactive resilience. https://lnkd.in/dSnvcHjB Key insights from the report: ・Average ransom payments have dropped from $1.35M to approx. $700K. ・96% of organisations now feel prepared to respond to a cyber incident. ・Only 64% of affected businesses paid a ransom, signalling a decline in payment reliance. ・Stronger controls, regulatory pressure and evolving cyber insurance models are driving this shift. The message is clear: companies are prioritising preparation over pay-outs, and cyber insurance is becoming less about “what happens if we pay” and more about how well we are protected and able to recover without doing so. At BCS Broking, we help businesses align their cyber insurance with this new reality, focusing on prevention, response capability and long-term operational resilience, not just financial cover. Talk to us today about your cyber insurance coverage and ensure your organisation is equipped for today’s evolving threat environment.

At BCS Broking, we believe good partnerships extend beyond the boardroom. Sometimes, they start on the green. We’re excited to be supporting the 2025 QLD PGA Championship at Nudgee Golf Club (20–23 November). For us, it’s more than just a golf tournament. It’s a celebration of Queensland’s sporting spirit, community connections, and the kind of relationships that underpin strong business. We’re proud to back the golfing community, and to invest in opportunities where professionals across sectors can connect, collaborate, and compete (in the best way possible). If you’re attending, let’s catch up. We’ll be there not just as sponsors, but as fellow supporters of excellence, focus, and follow‑through.
