When we started building Armilla AI, we believed AI insurance would require more than a new policy form. It would require a new underwriting foundation: independent assessment, technical evidence, and practical ways to understand how AI systems perform in the real world. That is why I’m proud that Armilla has joined the Appia Foundation as a founding member, alongside OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Mastercard, and other global leaders. Joining as the first insurer in the consortium is meaningful recognition of the work our team has done to help define approaches to AI assessment, underwriting, and risk transfer for AI. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring an insurance perspective to Appia’s work and to help build market infrastructure for assuring and insuring the AI economy. Your customer's procurement team reads your certificate for one thing: does it name AI. That's where "AI-affirmative" and "AI not excluded" stop being synonyms. A silent policy doesn't mention AI. It might respond to an AI loss, but on its face, it can't satisfy a contract requirement for AI-specific coverage. An affirmative policy names AI as a covered exposure, with triggers written for AI failure modes: model errors, hallucinations, agent failures. The underwriter has read the model card before the loss, not after. That's the policy we built at Armilla AI.

Feedback from founders of #generativeAI x #AIagent scaleups: AI risk is a growing sales problem; and customers want to see dedicated insurance coverage. You clear every hurdle, but the deal stalls on one question: are you covered for the risks your AI creates? That question used to be reserved for #cyber risks. Now, #cyberinsurance is a basic expectation for tech companies; and industry reports suggest AI is heading the same way, only faster: - The IDC projects that 90% of AI vendors and 50% of G2000 companies that develop their own AI solutions will rely on insurance-backed performance guarantees by 2028. - The Geneva Association, a global organization of the largest insurance companies, published a survey showing that 90% corporate insurance buyers see a need for dedicated insurance coverage for #generativeAI risk. Why? AI investment, exposures and risk tolerance are changing the market faster than standard wordings and coverage can accommodate. And it's just one of the reasons more and more companies are discovering Armilla AI: https://lnkd.in/gyB72sWG

"AI-affirmative" and "AI not excluded" are not the same when a procurement team reads your certificate. An affirmative policy names AI as a covered exposure, with triggers written for model errors, hallucinations, and agent failures, so it proves AI coverage on its face. See what affirmative coverage includes and what to ask your broker.

If you sell AI to enterprises, the requirement is already in your redlines: indemnify the customer for harmful outputs, guarantee performance in the SLA, and show proof of insurance covering AI risk. IDC projects that by 2028, 90% of AI vendors will rely on insurance-backed performance guarantees (IDC FutureScape, October 2024). Affirmative AI coverage is built to meet that requirement: it names AI as a covered exposure, so your certificate clears procurement. See what it covers, and what to bring to the table.
