We asked people in Brussels how food gets from farms to their table. Trucks were the most common answer, and road freight does carry much of Europe's food to processors and shops. Before that, the work happens in the fields. Tractors and harvesters prepare the soil, plant and bring in the crops, and planting and harvesting windows leave little room for delay. In 2024, EU farmers harvested 400 million tonnes of crops. A reliable tyre supply helps keep that work on schedule. Find out more about how tyres keep Europe moving: https://lnkd.in/dfWYfDt4

We asked people in Brussels how medicines and medical supplies reach hospitals and pharmacies across Europe. Most pointed to trucks and vans, though few had thought about what keeps those vehicles on the road. Road freight is the primary means by which medicines reach distribution points across the EU, and every truck and van making those deliveries depends on tyres. For patients who rely on time-sensitive treatment, that reliability has a direct effect on their care. The same applies in emergencies. Europe's 65,000 ambulances handle nearly 20 million calls a year, and each of them needs high-performing tyres to reach patients safely. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dfWYfDt4

When a tyre reaches the end of the road, its story isn’t over. For every tyre sold in Europe, a tyre is collected and made available for recycling. Their materials serve sectors including construction, automotive, cement and road infrastructure. Behind this is a system combining extended producer responsibility, free-market mechanisms and tax-based frameworks, with each country applying its own model. As these systems continue to evolve, strengthening the conditions for circularity can help Europe make greater use of recovered tyre materials. The economic impact of the tyre industry stretches well past its factory floors. It extends into classrooms, hospitals, and care facilities throughout the EU. EU tyre manufacturing generates an annual economic footprint of €43.9 billion, including €12.2 billion in tax revenues that support essential public services across Europe. Analysis shows that the total tax contribution stimulated in 2023 was sufficient to pay the wages of around 300,000 teachers, medics, and social workers in the EU. This vital economic contribution reinforces the systems of care and support that serve people every day. https://lnkd.in/gNsa9JVM #BeyondTyres

Tyres are not just about mobility. They help power Europe’s economy. The industry creates value far beyond its direct operations, supporting suppliers, services, and local communities. For every €1 million generated directly by the tyre industry, an additional €2.2 million is supported elsewhere in the EU economy. In addition, the €10 billion invested in R&D by Tyres Europe members between 2017 and 2023 is expected to deliver a €4.6 billion boost to EU GDP in 2035 through higher productivity. A strong EU tyre sector has an indispensable role to play in delivering the growth, innovation, and productivity needed for a competitive and resilient future. https://lnkd.in/gNsa9JVM #BeyondTyres

Behind every tyre is a vast network of people keeping Europe moving. The tyre industry is responsible for more than 112,000 jobs in manufacturing, distribution, and retail. It also supports over 387,000 additional jobs in supplier and induced activities, bringing the total to nearly 500,000 jobs across the EU. Analysis by Oxford Economics shows that for every 1,000 people employed in EU tyre manufacturing in 2023, an additional 3,500 jobs were supported elsewhere in the EU economy through the industry’s expenditure. The industry’s impact is reflected in the livelihoods and communities it helps sustain. https://lnkd.in/gNsa9JVM #BeyondTyres
