When you choose business software, you are also choosing who will hold the memory of your business. Your customer relationships. The rates you negotiated. The shipments you moved. The margins you earned. Even the mistakes you learned from. Today, AI and vibe coding can turn an idea into a polished application within days. I see that as progress. But it has also made a good-looking screen easier to mistake for a dependable business system. The serious questions usually sit behind the demo. Where will the data live? Who can access it? Will it be used to train an AI model? Is each customer’s data kept separate? Can it be recovered after a failure? Can the customer take it back if the software company disappears? These are not minor technical details. They are business decisions carrying long-term risk. In more than 30 years of building freight technology, I have seen products come and go. The business data remains. When that data is leaked, lost or locked inside a system, the damage goes far beyond technology. AI will continue to change how quickly software can be built. That is good. It must not change the duty of those trusted with customer data. A software company does more than provide a product. It becomes the custodian of its customers’ business memory.

I have seen talented people fail. Not because they lacked intelligence. Not because they lacked opportunity. But because talent alone is rarely enough. Over the years, I have come to believe that lasting success rests on a few very basic things: Consistency to keep showing up when the excitement is gone. Discipline to do what needs to be done, even when nobody is watching. Ethics to know where you will not compromise, even when there is money on the table. Integrity to keep your actions aligned with what you claim to believe. And truthfulness to face facts as they are, especially when the truth is uncomfortable. People often talk about strategy, innovation, networking and timing. All of them matter. But without these five, success can become fragile. You may still grow fast. You may still make money. You may even become famous. The harder test is whether people continue to trust you after 10, 20 or 30 years. For me, that is a much better measure of success. 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. And they are far less afraid of trying something new. Late millennials bring another strength. They have seen both worlds. They understand the discipline of the older workplace and the speed of the digital one. They know when to challenge a system and when experience still matters. For years, insight came slowly. You had to make mistakes, watch patterns and spend years in the field. AI has changed that. A young person with energy, curiosity and the right tools can now reach useful insight much faster. Experience still matters, but it is no longer the only path to good judgement. That is why I feel comfortable working with Gen Z and late millennials. I do not expect them to think like me. I expect them to question me, move faster than me and build on what my generation has learned. The best teams are not built by choosing one generation over another. They are built when experience gives direction, youth brings speed and both sides are willing to listen.

𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺. That thought came to me while watching a match. For a few moments, I stopped following the ball and started watching the players around it. One was creating space. Another was covering a gap. Someone was already preparing for the next pass. Each player had a different role, but they were all reading the same game. It felt familiar. Sales, operations, finance, compliance and customer service also play different positions. Some create opportunities, some protect the business, and others make sure the promise reaches the customer. That moment became the starting point for this page of The Freight World Cup Playbook. Click to download the full eBook https://lnkd.in/ezpgNewr 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀. Football celebrates stars. Messi. Ronaldo. Mbappé. Players who can change a match in one moment. But Spain did not win the World Cup because it had the biggest star. It won because every player trusted the same system. Everyone knew where to move, when to pass and what the team expected from them. Individual skill remained important, but it worked inside one shared method. The same holds true in business. A great salesperson can win a major customer. An experienced operations person can rescue a difficult shipment. A strong finance head can keep control when things get tight. But a company cannot depend on people repeatedly saving the day. Real strength comes when sales, operations, customs, transport, warehousing and finance work with the same information, follow connected processes and move towards one goal. People create excellence. A common system makes that excellence repeatable. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.

𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐲, 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬. That has never been our view. At Softlink Global, we've treated AI as a journey of continuous improvement. We started by helping users read PDFs and extract information without manual effort. Then we introduced #BoxyAI, a chatbot that is steadily becoming the steering wheel for navigating Logi-Sys, helping users find information, understand workflows, and get answers instantly. Today, we're rebuilding forms with embedded AI and multilingual capabilities, making the system easier to use for teams across different countries and languages. Next comes our Digital Employee. An AI-powered assistant designed to handle repetitive operational tasks, allowing people to focus on decisions that create value. And this is still the beginning. AI is not one feature. It is not one release. It is not one announcement. It is a long-term commitment to making every part of the product a little smarter, a little simpler, and a little more useful. The winners in AI won't be the companies that make the loudest claims. They will be the ones that keep improving, release after release, year after year.
