Retrying payments until something sticks? Most subscription businesses do it. And most don't realize there's a point where it starts working against them. Every unnecessary retry sends a signal to Visa and Mastercard about how you operate as a merchant. It hurts your merchant score, your MID reputation — and there are hard financial costs associated with every single processing attempt. Nick Reshamwalla, VP of Engineering and Data at Dollar Shave Club, put it plainly: the more aggressive you are, the more money you lose trying to fix the problem. 70% of churn is involuntary. But that's the average. What's yours? Most teams know their total churn. Fewer know the split between customers who wanted out vs. payments that just didn't go through. Even fewer know which response codes keep showing up and which ones are actually fixable. In our recent webinar Good Customers, Bad Outcomes, Revaly CEO Darryl Hicks broke down how to diagnose the quantum and quality of your decline problem because where you start depends on what you're actually dealing with. 👉 Read the full recap here: https://lnkd.in/euvrXWAW

70% of churn in subscription businesses isn't coming from customers who decided to leave—it's coming from payments that should have gone through but didn't. In most cases, the card was valid, the money was there, and the customer had every intention of paying, but the bank declined the transaction anyway. The reason almost always comes back to one thing: the bank didn't have enough context to say yes. In our recent webinar, Revaly CEO Darryl Hicks broke down exactly why this keeps happening, and what subscription businesses can do to stop losing revenue they never should have lost in the first place. 👉 Watch the on-demand recording to see the full breakdown: https://lnkd.in/ei56WwzX
