Some advocacy wins make headlines. Others happen before a bad idea ever becomes law. That was the case in Rockville, Maryland, where ISA and local partners helped secure two important outcomes in a comprehensive zoning rewrite: electronic message centers will now be allowed, and proposed language that would have prohibited internally illuminated freestanding signs was removed. The Rockville win is a reminder that sign code advocacy is often detailed, technical and persistent. It takes early awareness, local business voices, practical solutions and the willingness to stay engaged through a long public process. See a sign code issue developing in your community? Let ISA know early.
