At Harvard University, students are stepping into interfaith leadership in a moment that demands it. Through programs like “Listening Across Lines,” student leaders like Zain M. are creating spaces where peers can engage across religious and worldview differences with honesty, respect, and curiosity. This work is part of a broader effort led by Rabbi Getzel Davis and Harvard’s Interfaith Engagement Initiative to rebuild trust and foster meaningful connection on campus. As Rabbi Davis shared, “What constantly surprises and inspires me is how hungry our students are for relational depth and lived experience.” At Interfaith America, we are proud to partner in this work, supporting students as they build relationships that can withstand disagreement and strengthen campus communities. What does it truly mean to leave a legacy? In this episode of Money, Meet Meaning, hosts Amber Hacker and Tom Levinson sit down with Kim Duchossois and Jessica Swoyer Green, a mother and daughter from one of Chicago’s most community-minded philanthropic families, to explore what gets passed down through generations beyond wealth. Kim and Jess reflect on their family’s shift from transactional to transformational giving, the growing influence of women in philanthropy, and why values like integrity, empathy, and connection often matter more than a balance sheet. They also speak candidly about raising grounded children, navigating generational transitions, and choosing service over status. For anyone thinking about their family’s story, what they hope to pass on, or how generosity can shape communities, this conversation offers a powerful reminder that legacy is built on meaning, not money. The Best of America series highlights stories of communities coming together, including Habitat Greenville’s first Juneteenth Build in September 2025. After months of shared work across lines of difference, volunteers and partners helped Miss Gwen, a 70-year-old resident of Nicholtown, secure her first home. Located in a historically Black neighborhood, the build aligns with Habitat’s Advancing Black Homeownership Project, which focuses on keeping long-time residents rooted in place. Through the Team Up Project partnership, organizations are demonstrating what community-driven equity can look like.
