Your next insider threat may already have API access. AI agents are being connected to databases, enterprise tools and critical workflows with the ability to read, write and take action. Cal Al-Dhubaib, Principal Technologist at Rubrik, warns that those same capabilities can turn agents into compelling targets for attackers. Prompt injection. Data poisoning. Unintended configuration changes. Actions that cascade across the enterprise. The attack surface changes considerably once AI can do more than generate an answer. In this ISMG.Studio conversation from HumanX Amsterdam, Cal examines the emerging threat of autonomous insiders and why he expects AI agents to become a major target for attack. AI is supposed to expand human capability. But are we moving too fast to stay in control? At ISMG.Studio, HumanX Amsterdam, Xuedong D. Huang, CTO, Zoom, joins Anna Delaney to explore what happens as AI becomes more capable, more autonomous and more deeply embedded in how we work. The conversation goes beyond what AI can do to the questions that matter now: What should we let it do? Where must humans stay in the loop? And can governance keep pace? AI can recognize what’s in a video. Can it understand what’s happening? Enterprises are sitting on massive video libraries filled with information that AI has struggled to interpret. Words can be transcribed. Objects can be identified. But actions, sound, sentiment and what changes from one moment to the next demand something more: context. At HumanX Amsterdam, Soyoung Lee, Co-Founder and Head of Go-to-Market at TwelveLabs, joins Anna Delaney at ISMG.Studio to explore how video understanding could give AI agents a richer view of the physical world while raising important questions around misinterpretation, privacy and where human judgment must remain. A couple of months ago, we celebrated ISMG's 20th anniversary, and I wrote about what those two decades have meant: the analyst working an incident at 3 a.m., the CISO explaining risk to a board, the researcher who finds the flaw before an adversary does. This community is the reason we exist. Today we opened our most ambitious chapter yet: a strategic partnership with Peak Rock Capital — the first outside investment in our history. When Information Security Media Group (ISMG) began two decades ago, it was a four-hour online workshop built around a multi-factor authentication and risk assessment compliance requirement from the FFIEC. We had no outside capital and no playbook, just a bet that the people who defend the digital world deserved intelligence and education built for them. For twenty years we stayed self-funded, building each of our businesses from our own operations and welcoming companies like QG Media, Xtra Mile, Nullcon, Hardwear.io, and Grey Head Media into the ISMG family along the way. So why change now? Over the past year, I've spent time with our teams and communities throughout APAC, EMEA, and North America, and the message everywhere was the same: the world runs on software, and increasingly on AI, and the people we serve need more from us than we can build alone. We chose our first institutional partner deliberately. Peak Rock believes in what this team is capable of building next. Together, we will pursue AI-driven growth and acquisitions across our media, events, education and studio businesses, and keep investing in the people who do the work. Not everyone who helped build this company is here to see this day. We lost Steve King and Sameer Saxena along the way, and they are part of everything we have built and of what comes next. At our anniversary, I made five commitments to this community — stay true to our mission, renew the editorial contract every day, keep building our communities, keep educating, and get AI right. None of them change with this partnership. Our capacity to keep them does. Because twenty years of ISMG does not amount to a product or a portfolio or a list of acquisitions. It amounts to trust, built slowly, with people who trusted us enough to let us serve them. To our team, clients, partners, and everyone who has given us that trust: thank you. We will spend the next twenty years trying to be worthy of it. 88% of organizations reported AI agent security incidents last year. The root cause: agents have no identity, no permissions, and no audit trail.
