McKinsey & Company and Kearney both celebrate 100 this year, with Arthur D. Little even turning 140 years. How come these firms are so long-lived? What started just as "a cool timeline" took me down an interesting rabbit hole of spinouts, crashes, and reboots of some of the biggest names in strategy consulting. How many CDDs are run each year? What initially started as internal research became too interesting not to share publicly. Here's our first attempt at mapping the world of Commercial Due Diligence, by counting the number of CDDs run by leading strategy consulting firms. Check it out below! https://lnkd.in/ezzndVPE

To my fellow consultants: remember Alphasights and GLG? I recently needed to run expert calls for a project, but being independent I was worried I couldn't access the traditional platforms we had at BCG. Luckily innovation reached this space as well, and I found Inex One, who did such a good job that I'm now writing this post as a convinced promoter. Their platform makes expert calls nice and easy, as they should be: - launch several expert networks through a single platform - select expert profiles from a clear overview and schedule your calls - get a recording, ai transcript and summary right after the call Both the expert networks and Inex One team were very reactive, sourced great profiles, and their solution solves all the tedious parts of this process, with a clear pay-by-call structure that makes it easily accessible. Worth checking out – both for freelancers and for agencies that want to make life easier for their teams 🙏🏼 https://inex.one/

There's a better way. Get all experts in one platform, and all call transcripts indexed with AI, for free.

An investor asked me the other day if my business will still be around next year, given the rapid march of AI. It's a fair question, but it misses some insight. Here's my mental model for why expert networks will remain relevant. The same logic explains why strategy consultants, or smart investors won't be replaced by AI either. Expert networks operate behind the 'frontier of documented knowledge'. Expert networks start where LLMs end. LLMs have access to all information that has been documented and indexed (and shared with them). Think all of the public internet's text, audio, video and images. For years, Google has been great at retrieving the structured part of this data. It was OK-ish at helping you find unstructured data (e.g. scattered across multiple sources). For that reason, some people did expert interviews rather than spending time googling around. That part of the expert network market is most certainly gone today. But LLMs cannot retrieve what has not been documented (and when they try, they hallucinate). That's where expert networks matter. Few successful people build their careers on generic information. The good ones know more. They get superior insights by laying a mosaic of many small information nuggets. When you have deeper market insights than your competitors, you can make better strategic decisions. With Inex One, you access all the best expert networks in one platform. You cast a wider net. Because the good ones know more.
