𝗜𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆. Detecting suspicious activity after the event may help reconstruct what happened. But it cannot change the outcome. As payments accelerate and financial activity becomes increasingly digital, the time between identifying risk and acting on it matters more than ever. A modern AFC program needs to move beyond purely retrospective monitoring toward detecting risk while activity is taking place. Because seeing the bigger picture isn't enough if you see it too late. A customer's risk profile is shaped by information across onboarding records, transactions, screening results, alerts, cases and historical interactions. When that information sits across disconnected systems, each control sees only a fragment. Important relationships and context can be missed, and different teams may reach different conclusions based on different views of the same customer. A modern AFC program requires a connected, holistic view of the customer, bringing together the information needed to understand risk in its full context. Connect the fragments. See the customer. Understand the risk. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱. 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗙𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺? #AntiFinancialCrime #Customer360 #KYC #AML #Compliance #SironOne #IMTF

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀. 𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. Financial crime doesn't always start with someone who looks like a criminal, and it rarely announces itself at onboarding. Legitimate customers change behavior, encounter new counterparties and channels, or become involved in suspicious activity, knowingly or unknowingly. What looked normal yesterday may carry very different risk today. That makes static labels and point-in-time assessments insufficient. A modern AFC program requires a continuous understanding of customer behavior and the ability to recognize meaningful deviations as they emerge. Because understanding customer risk isn't just about knowing who your customer is. It's about understanding how their behavior changes over time. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱. 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗙𝗖 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺? At our recent Siron User Group Conference in Zurich, we launched IMTF's new campaign exploring what good Anti-Financial Crime Compliance looks like today. It sparked conversations, challenged assumptions and got people talking. So we're taking the conversation beyond the room. Over the last decade, the face of financial crime has changed tremendously. Yet many of the systems designed to fight it haven't changed with it. What was once largely a needle-in-the-haystack problem is increasingly a connect-the-dots problem. And that's where we start: 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. When financial crime is viewed through isolated systems, teams and controls, each sees only part of the picture. Each individual view can make sense, while the full picture tells a very different story. A contemporary AFC program requires connecting the dots across KYC, transaction monitoring, sanctions, fraud and other financial crime domains to create a holistic view of risk. Over the coming weeks, we'll explore what that means in practice. Stay tuned! #AntiFinancialCrime #FinancialCrime #AML #Compliance #HolisticAFC #SironOne

Financial crime is networked. Why are we still fighting it in silos? Criminal networks operate across domains, institutions and jurisdictions, while the controls designed to stop them are often still separated by teams, systems and data. In our latest white paper, Dr. Sebastian Hetzler explores why it is time to rethink this model and move towards a more holistic approach to Anti-Financial Crime. The paper explores how connecting data, intelligence and analytics across traditional financial crime domains can: 🔹 Reveal patterns and networks that siloed controls may miss 🔹 Create the foundation for more effective AI 🔹 Enable the shift from retrospective detection towards real-time prevention 🔹 Help financial institutions build a more connected AFC operating model The goal is not simply to make existing controls more efficient. It is to make the architecture of financial crime defence better reflect the architecture of financial crime itself.
