The circular economy is changing MedTech. Here’s how standards help make it safe 👇 🔹 Reuse medical devices and components to keep them in use for longer. 🔹 Refurbish equipment while maintaining its performance. 🔹 Recycle valuable materials and reduce waste. 🔹 Protect safety so circular practices don’t compromise reliability or performance. But in healthcare, extending a product’s life can’t come at the expense of safety. International standards provide common requirements and methods for reusing, refurbishing and recycling medical devices. Conformity assessment helps verify that these requirements are met, providing confidence that equipment continues to meet expectations for safety, performance and reliability throughout its life. From medical imaging equipment to other healthcare devices, circularity can reduce waste while making better use of valuable resources. Ever felt your phone vibrate when you tap a button? That’s haptics. It lets us feel digital interactions through touch, using vibrations, pressure, force or motion. From smartphones to surgery and space exploration, haptics is giving the digital world a sense of touch. As digital experiences become more immersive, it could make technology more natural, accessible and intuitive — from VR and robotics to AI. Standards can help make this future more inclusive and interoperable. Why touch matters in the digital age: https://lnkd.in/ebZgZdwp What’s next for haptic technology? AI safety needs more than rules. It needs evidence. Every week, headlines warn of new risks from AI, from job disruption and misinformation to threats to critical infrastructure. These concerns are often followed by calls for stronger governance. But governance can only work if we have ways to measure and verify whether AI systems are actually safe. Adam Leon Smith, an expert in AI regulation and technical standards and Chair of the AIQI Consortium, shares more: https://lnkd.in/e7EQSqRn #AISafety #AI #AIRegulation #IECEmergingTech #ResponsibleAI #TrustworthyAI #InternationalStandards

Here’s an important piece of news you might have missed, and why it matters. Digital driving licences and other digital credentials are becoming a reality. But for them to work across countries, platforms and devices, they need common standards. Earlier this month, IEC, ISO - International Organization for Standardization, DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. and the OpenWallet Foundation announced an agreement to provide worldwide access to key standards supporting mobile driving licences and digital credentials, including the ISO/IEC 18013 and ISO/IEC 23220 series. Why does this matter? These standards are the building blocks for secure, interoperable digital identities. Making them more accessible can help remove barriers to adoption and support digital credentials that work across different systems and borders. Credit cards, boarding passes, loyalty cards, ID cards and even driving licences are moving from our physical wallets to digital ones. But what exactly is a digital wallet, and how do we know our digital credentials are secure? A new landmark agreement between the IEC, ISO, DIN and the OpenWallet Foundation will make key standards supporting mobile driving licences and other digital credentials available worldwide, including the ISO/IEC 18013 and ISO/IEC 23220 series. These standards provide the foundational building blocks for digital credentials, helping enable secure and interoperable digital identities and supporting the wider adoption of digital wallets.
