"For the first time, I've felt something I never expected from my own professional association: betrayal." RaShawn Hawkins, SHRM-CP, has been a SHRM member since 2017. As senior director of workplace equality at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, she's watched as SHRM has softened its language, blurred its commitments, and given space to voices actively working to dismantle progress toward equal playing fields in the workplace. But the data is clear: companies with strong LGBTQ+-inclusive policies—those scoring highest on HRC's Corporate Equality Index—consistently outperform their peers with higher revenue, stronger profits and steadier long-term performance. This past summer, investors at dozens of Fortune 500s like Apple, Costco, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Mastercard overwhelmingly voted down anti-inclusion proposals. "SHRM has chosen to appease backlash rather than stand firm in its values. That's not leadership — that's retreat." At a time when political forces are actively attacking private businesses and weaponizing fear around diversity to divide Americans, HR professionals must not retreat. This moment is a stress test of our integrity.

Only 5 partnership grants remain for the Human Rights Campaign's Next Level program. For organizations dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ young people, this represents a rare chance to offer something transformative to the participants you work with every day. The young people have already found their way to your program. Now you can meet them with comprehensive Next Level resources that support their career development, financial health, and personal wellness. Generic programs weren't designed with their experiences in mind. They don't address the unique challenges LGBTQ+ young adults face – from employment discrimination to biased financial systems to navigating wellness in a world that often doesn't affirm their identities. This cohort-based program combines career pathway development, financial health education, and comprehensive wellness support specifically designed for LGBTQ+ communities. Your organization provides the trusted environment where participants already feel safe. The Human Rights Campaign provides the expert curriculum, comprehensive resources, and organizational support. With only 8 partnership grants remaining this cycle, are you ready to apply for your Human Rights Campaign Next Level partnership grant?
