Healthcare Leaders: how confident are you that EVERY staff member’s respirator protects them and your patients? Compliance isn’t optional: OSHA mandates initial and annual fit-testing for N95s and other tight-fitting masks, because up to 25% of healthcare staff can lose a good fit over time, leaving critical gaps in safety. Consider this: N95 fit-test pass rates range from 32% to 96% depending on the mask model. https://lnkd.in/eewupzuR. If you aren’t routinely fit-testing and reviewing procurement, your staff may not be truly protected. Failed fit tests correlate directly to not only higher infection rates and regulatory risks, but real patient and staff harm. NIOSH provides information about fit testing in healthcare settings in its Hospital Respiratory Protection Program Toolkit, with a summary of Fit Testing requirements on page 31: https://lnkd.in/eptUfRAq Keeping up with shifting models, staffing changes, and regulatory demands is tough. Partnering with a dedicated fit-testing vendor like HealthOps helps you stay survey-ready, optimize protection, and cut down on preventable healthcare-associated infections: https://lnkd.in/egNSCFgc #PatientSafety #HospitalFitTesting #RegulatoryCompliance #HealthcareLeadership

For the first time ever, the The Joint Commission is including Nurse Staffing as a core component of quality care, highlighting nursing leadership and the role of the nurse executive in directing staffing. Effective January 2026, the TJC's National Performance Goal # 12 ensures that "hospitals seeking accreditation must meet certain standards related to staffing and oversight." Specifically: ❤️Staffing focus shifts to quality: Safe staffing will now be measured as part of organizational quality and patient outcomes. ❤️Nurse executive requirement: Every accredited organization must designate a nurse leader responsible for staffing policies and procedures. ❤️24/7 nursing supervision: A registered nurse must be present at all times, either providing care or supervising nursing staff. ❤️Validation for nursing advocacy: The American Nurses Association (ANA) and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) recognize this decision as a major win after years of advocating that safe staffing levels save lives. This is a groundbreaking moment for patient safety, quality care and hospital excellence. When your company hits a wall, do your executives gather in a board room and start pitching ideas? If you are outside of the room, are you waiting for someone to invite you in? Or, if you are in the room, do you feel energized with premature feelings of accomplishment, even if there is a nagging thought in the back of your mind that the group might actually be a bit disconnected from reality? Often, the solution will not be discovered by those formally tasked to lead, but by those who are doing the work. Imagine you are on a road trip. Are you more observant of your surroundings as the driver or as a passenger on a road trip? From which position are you more likely to see intricate scenery details, others' reactions on the road, and places you could stop to make the journey more meaningful? Are you inviting front-line employees to sit in the driver's seat for an hour, or are you waiting for them to speak up? Many employees are simply waiting, hoping someone will ask. Save yourself many headaches and brick walls. Build employee empowerment into the fabric of your culture and watch your results soar. Thanks to Becker's Hospital Review and David Banks president and CEO at AdventHealth, for this powerful mantra and inspiring quote from "The Rise of Humble Hospital C-Suites" https://lnkd.in/egu8k2-x . Is your patient experience strategy keeping up? Recent literature says that it actually depends on your setting. An October 2025 Hospital Review article by Becker's Healthcare (link in comments), shares that outpatient clinics and surgery centers are leading the way with slow but steady improvements, while hospitals are struggling to keep up. Why? According to Becker's, digital innovation AND stronger feedback loops have made outpatient settings more convenient and satisfying, while inpatient care still faces challenges with coordination, communication, and information sharing. This resonates with findings from a March 2025 systematic review article by Frontiers https://lnkd.in/erbWaPfS, which emphasizes that integrating data across various silos, including EHRs, diverse specialty systems, and multiple vendors is a significant challenge for hospitals due to interoperability issues such as incompatible formats and lack of standardized protocols. Outpatient centers typically have much simpler workflows and, often, a more flexible culture. A literature review by dSPACE@MIT highlights that hospitals often operate with a patchwork of outdated systems, making integration of new technology complex and expensive, in addition to strict regulatory and compliance burdens. https://lnkd.in/eaKPG2aQ The solution to bridging these gaps means thinking beyond technology to how hospitals deploy, integrate, and humanize digital innovations. According to Becker's, these are the factors that really move the needle: >Quiet environments: Higher “Quiet at Night" ratings improved “Overall Rest" scores by an average of 46 points. >Clean environments: Look one level deeper when it comes to cleanliness. Patients are. (Check out HealthOps' Deep Clean Program for inspiration! https://lnkd.in/e4CmchMy) >Inclusive platforms for older adults: After testing digital pre-registration with a small group, San Antonio Regional Hospital found that about 70% of older adults completed the process online. >Strong digital leadership: Bring strategic visions to life with operational accountability. Tech investments lead to poor ROI’s if no one follows up. >Data Analytics: Don't just collect and measure feedback; be sure that actionable insights are also captured to drive your decisions. (Hint: if you are looking to elevate your Data Analytics program check out our approach at https://lnkd.in/eQsqbZM2) >Remember the “little things”: Human touches, teamwork, and post-discharge outreach. These consistently lift trust and satisfaction metrics. Is your organization focused on integration rather than just innovation?
