Private equity's infiltration of the life-insurance industry is a familiar topic to both the readers of Grant's and viewers of The Jim and Evan Show series. On Tuesday, October 13, two separate presentations at the Grant's Annual Fall Conference will focus on the risks that are accumulating in the U.S. life insurance sector. 1.Forensic accountant and former Mississippi Insurance Department examiner Thomas D. Gober, whose analysis has contributed to our reporting, will present: "The life and annuity industry: trouble ahead and trouble behind" Tom Gober is the founder and president of Thomas Gober Forensic Accounting Services. A former Mississippi Insurance Department examiner, Tom's primary focus has been examinations and investigations of complex accounting fraud schemes in the insurance industry's financial reporting. Tom was the featured guest in episode four of our Jim and Evan Show series. 2.The founder and chief investment officer of Altana Wealth, Lee Robinson, will present: "The big short 2" Lee Robinson turned a $20 million wager against subprime mortgages into $200 million during the financial crisis. Today, he is shorting major insurers as an indirect wager against trouble in private credit. Gober will examine the risks accumulating inside the industry. Robinson will explain why he believes those risks have created an investment opportunity. We hope you join us at The Plaza - or via live webinar - to hear both presentations. https://lnkd.in/exTZMKrE
