Golden West Humanitarian Foundation integrates innovative technologies, such as the Mobile Bomb Cutting System (MBCS), into its EOD training programs. The MBCS provides a transportable, non-explosive method for disposing of high-explosive-filled munitions by cutting the munition to access the explosive fill, followed by controlled burning. Training incorporates hands-on experience with specialized equipment and disposal techniques. The World Conference on Drowning Prevention 2025 (WCDP2025) recently took place in Sharm El Sheikh, “The City of Peace”, in Egypt. The event was organized by the International Life Saving Federation - ILS and the EDLF – Egyptian Diving & Lifesaving Federation, with the support of the World Health Organization and Bloomberg Philanthropies. The conference brought together 600 delegates from over 50 countries, including global leaders, researchers, experts, and representatives from organizations working in drowning prevention, all united by a shared mission: To eliminate drowning, one of the leading global causes of preventable death. Swim for Life, (part of Golden West Humanitarian Foundation), was honored to have Ms. Dang Thi Hai Yen, SFL Program Manager, attend the conference as one of seven delegates from Vietnam. At #WCDP2025, SFL Vietnam presented two of our impactful and sustainable child drowning prevention programs in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. #WCDP2025 “Waves of Change,” was a truly global and influential forum, rallying the international community to take action toward a safer world for every child. #WCDP2025 #WavesOfChange #SwimForLifeVietnam #DrowningPrevention

Chapter 4 of our Short History of Humanitarian Mine Action in Albania, told through the eyes of Arben “Beni” Braha, is now live; fittingly, on Albania’s National Day. We wish all of our partners, friends, colleagues, and the Albanian communities where we serve, a healthy, safe, and prosperous year. Chapter 4 takes us back to 1998. Albania has just created a small special unit with one job: stop the chain of ammunition accidents and start cleaning up the landmines and UXO scattered across the country. Beni is thrown into a new world of NATO trainers, hard discipline, and a very different kind of soldiering. Three months of intensive EOD training. No more raki for breakfast. New rules. Old habits were costing lives. Then the Kosovo crisis explodes across the border. Refugees pour into northern Albania. Cluster munitions land on village roofs, schoolyards, and fields. Beni and his team race north, climbing onto tiles to remove bomblets, painting safe lanes around schools, and standing with shepherds to explain why the “shiny metal” in the grass will kill their flocks and their children. Along the way, mentors like Major John Anderson and a US Navy EOD master sergeant named Todd teach him what it really means to lead in a minefield – including the day an arrogant engineer ignores warnings, steps into danger, and Beni has seconds to save his life… Read Chapter 4: Learning to Disarm, Learning to Lead here: https://bit.ly/4rpYbgL #GoldenWestHumanitarianFoundation #HumanitarianMineAction #Albania #EOD #UXO #PSSM #NATO #WarStories #Leadership

It has been another month of progress for our teams working alongside our long-time partners the United States 🇺🇸 & the Cambodia Mine Action Centre (CMAC). Eight CMAC students completed a four-week mentorship program, gaining valuable hands-on experience in EOD safety, demolition protocol, and fuze functioning. These future EOD technicians continue Cambodia’s proud legacy of developing local expertise to make their country safer. We were honored to host multiple delegations this month; including representatives from a U.S. Congressional delegation 🇺🇸, the United States HDR&D and NPA, as well as Laos; all visiting to see firsthand the impact of U.S. foreign assistance and Golden West Humanitarian Foundation’s innovative approach to safe, sustainable mine action. Together, we continue to turn technical expertise into tangible impact, saving lives and building safer futures for Cambodia. Our on-going achievements between 🇺🇸 🤝 🇰🇭 are made possible thanks to the funding and support of the United States 🇺🇸 through U.S. Embassy Cambodia. #GoldenWestHumanitarianFoundation #GoldenWestHF #HumanitarianMineAction #EOD #UXO #USDepartmentofState #PMWRA #NPA #KCTC #CMAC #Cambodia
