Israel loses around 3.2% of the water in its network before it reaches consumers. In some countries, that figure is as high as 40%. With shortages beginning to affect agriculture, industry and energy production in parts of Europe, that gap is drawing attention to how Israel manages its water, not just how it produces it. In this partner piece, Barak Graber, Acting CEO of Mekorot Development & Enterprise, explains that losses are only part of the picture: “Infrastructure is not always connected, different sources are managed separately, and every stage has an energy cost. Israel has learned how to manage all those elements as one system.” The article explores how Israel runs natural water, desalinated water and treated wastewater as one integrated network, why desalination costs fell from roughly €1.5/m³ to around €0.40/m³, and how Mekorot’s work in Cyprus expanded in 2026 to the Nicosia district, with a memorandum of understanding focused on water loss, efficiency and wastewater reuse. How can water utilities respond when demand grows faster than infrastructure? In a recent article, Aqualia explores how modular water solutions, global expertise, and local adaptation are helping communities strengthen resilience in the face of rapid growth, drought, and climate uncertainty. Using Corpus Christi, Texas as a case study, it highlights the role of modular desalination in bridging the gap between immediate water needs and long-term infrastructure development. As industrial water users face growing pressure to maximize reuse, reduce liquid waste and manage increasingly concentrated brine streams, the economics of Minimal Liquid Discharge are moving further into focus. In a new partner article, DuPont Water Solutions looks at how low salt rejection reverse osmosis is extending the role of membranes in advanced brine concentration - helping operators push recovery further upstream, reduce the load on downstream thermal processes, and open new possibilities for more cost-effective MLD and ZLD system design. Read the full article to explore how membrane-based brine concentration is reshaping the pathway to higher recovery, resource recovery and more efficient industrial water management: https://lnkd.in/etiTazeM

Rapid semiconductor capacity expansion is putting major pressure on water infrastructure. Water systems must be ready as each new phase of production comes online. Greater reuse is becoming a critical part of meeting that challenge, helping manufacturers meet rising water demand while reducing the risk of water becoming a bottleneck, and GreenTech Environmental is at the forefront of this shift in Wuxi. It's part of a broader trend already visible in Taiwan, where municipal reclaimed water supplies major fabs, and now spreading across industrial parks and manufacturing clusters in mainland China. GreenTech's Wuxi portfolio shows what that looks like in practice. Five water-reuse plants, each added in step with fab growth, now run through its AI-enabled WateRobot® system from a single control centre with a team of just ten, cutting labour requirements by 90% and overall operating costs by around 35%. GreenTech is now looking to take the model overseas, as semiconductor manufacturing expands globally and water infrastructure needs to keep pace with it everywhere. Who are the world's top 50 water businesses? | GWI unveils its latest annual ranking of companies ordered by 2025 water revenues🌍 Veolia has retained the top spot this year, with revenues climbing to $20.6bn. The rest of the table tells a story of reshuffling portfolios and calculated bets on where growth is heading next. Ecolab, Solenis, GRUNDFOS and Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes Co., Ltd are all pivoting toward higher-margin products, while Georg Fischer has gone further still, recasting itself as a pure water play by selling off most of its other divisions. Veolia is trimming its own portfolio too, and, along with Ecolab and Wilo Group, is racing to capture growth from data centres and microelectronics. Not every gain is what it seems. Pentair and Kemira are both counting on M&A to keep headline growth numbers looking healthy by year-end even as their core revenues decline. Ecolab's $4.75bn purchase of CoolIT Systems, at a 29x EBITDA multiple, is a leap of faith on what the combined business can deliver. And SKion Water GmbH's decision to sell Ovivo's electronics arm to Ecolab will shrink its revenues, but it's a smart move for the family-backed group all the same. Two names are conspicuously absent: Sulzer and Aliaxis would almost certainly have made our top 50, but a lack of transparency on their water exposure ruled them out. A surprising gap given how closely the market is now watching this space. These rankings are built from GWI WaterData's Company Database. Across our 9,000+ company profiles, you'll find current & historical financials, revenue by business segments and geographies, M&A activity logged with deal price and stake acquired, technology activity, and patent applications.
