🌿 Wellness, Longevity, and the Conditions for Human Capability What if the true measure of wellbeing were not simply how long we live, but how fully we are able to live? For Bryan Hoare, whose work spans exercise science, elite sport, clinical healthcare, and luxury hospitality, wellness is about understanding the whole person—and the conditions that enable people to thrive over time. With a background in Exercise and Nutrition Science and an MBA focused on leadership and organisational behaviour, Bryan brings together physiology, behavioural science, and strategic thinking. Through initiatives such as the Wellness Majlis at Naufar Hospital and Journeyman, he has explored how environment, relationships, motivation, and personal experience can influence recovery and lasting behavioural change. His work challenges the idea that longevity begins and ends with optimisation. Sustainable health depends not only on scientific knowledge and advanced interventions, but also on the ability to build healthier habits, adapt to disruption, and make choices that fit the realities of everyday life. Alongside Jeremy McCarthy, Bryan developed The Longevity Protocol, an evidence-informed framework drawing on behavioural science, exercise physiology, and organisational psychology to help people sustain healthier behaviours over time. Looking ahead, his vision extends beyond individual performance to a broader understanding of wellbeing—one that values functional ability, meaningful relationships, resilience, and contribution to society. “The purpose of good health may be to help us participate more fully in life: to function, think, care, connect, contribute and make useful decisions.” Discover the full cover story of Bryan Hoare and his perspective on the future of wellness, longevity, and human flourishing. https://lnkd.in/dd-jHBj2 #GlobalHealthcareMagazine #BryanHoare #Wellness #Longevity #HealthcareInnovation #HumanPerformance #BehaviourChange #HealthyAgeing #Wellbeing

Dr. Akira Olsen: Building a Bridge Between East and West in Mental Health Mental health care becomes more meaningful when science, culture, and human connection work together. With more than two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Akira Olsen, PsyD, EMBA, Founder and CEO of Journey Health, is advancing a more accessible, culturally responsive approach to mental health and whole-person wellness. A licensed clinical psychologist fluent in English and Japanese, she brings together evidence-based Western therapeutic practices, Eastern mindfulness traditions, and a deep understanding of individual experiences. Her work extends beyond the therapy room. Through Journey Health, she is building an integrative digital mental health clinic offering support across the lifespan—from childhood through the end of life, including families navigating critical illness, caregiving, grief, and loss. Dr. Olsen also founded WARM Education, Training & Consulting and authored The Journey to Self, a practical guide to psychological wellness that explores self-awareness, self-compassion, healthy boundaries, relationships, trauma healing, and the connection between financial wellbeing and mental health. Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: healing is not a single event, but a practice built through small, intentional steps. By combining clinical expertise, education, mindfulness, and community support, she is helping make mental health care more holistic and accessible. “Your healing journey deserves a roadmap. This is it.” Read the full cover story to discover Dr. Akira Olsen’s journey and her vision for the future of mental health care. https://lnkd.in/dXt2KyFs #GlobalHealthcare #MentalHealth #HealthcareLeadership #Psychology #DigitalHealth #MentalWellness #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #Mindfulness #TraumaInformedCare #WomenInHealthcare #Leadership

Dr. Martin McCormack: Connecting Education, Governance, and a Safer Future for Healthcare What does it take to build safer, more resilient healthcare systems? For Dr. Martin Mc Cormack, the answer begins with people. From medical social work and palliative care to technology leadership, postgraduate medical education, and his role as CEO of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland, his career has been shaped by one central belief: healthcare is ultimately experienced one person and one family at a time. Under his leadership, the College has doubled specialist anaesthesiology training capacity in Ireland—an investment not only in education, but in the future healthcare workforce and patient safety. His thinking also extends into AI, digital transformation, governance, and data. As technology increasingly influences medical education and clinical decision-making, Dr. McCormack argues that human judgement and accountability must remain at the centre. Through initiatives connecting patient-safety intelligence with postgraduate education, and international partnerships across Malawi, Malaysia, and Africa, he champions a model of healthcare leadership built around learning, capability, collaboration, and sustainable impact. His philosophy is perhaps best captured by one idea: patient safety is not owned by one department—it is created by the whole system working together. 🌿 Reading the Adaptive Intelligence of Nature What if nature itself could become a laboratory for understanding human longevity? For Jelena Milovanovic, PhD, Founder & CEO of BioEridan, that question sits at the intersection of ecology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, and a deeply evidence-driven approach to science. Through BioEridan, Jelena and her team are exploring how controlled environmental stress and plant biotechnology can influence plant metabolism and generate naturally derived bioactive compounds with potential relevance to cellular aging. At the center of this work is the Aquafarm—an underwater biotechnology research platform designed to study plant adaptation under controlled conditions. But Jelena’s philosophy goes beyond discovery. She challenges the idea that longevity can be reduced to a single molecule or mechanism, emphasizing rigorous characterization, validation, and measurable biology. Her approach is clear: biology comes first, and evidence determines what comes next. As BioEridan moves toward greater validation, scalability, and international collaboration, Jelena envisions a biotechnology platform capable of translating the adaptive intelligence of nature into meaningful contributions to the global longevity ecosystem. “The future of longevity will belong to people who are ambitious enough to ask extraordinary questions but disciplined enough to accept only evidence-based answers.” Discover the full story of Jelena Milovanovic and the science shaping BioEridan’s vision for the future of longevity. https://lnkd.in/d35xSvg2 #JelenaMilovanovic #BioEridan #Biotechnology #Longevity #HealthTech #LifeSciences #Innovation #ScientificResearch #FutureOfHealthcare #GlobalHealth

Redefining What It Means to Lead in Pediatric Healthcare Dr. Samantha Jackson Dilts MD, FAAP has built her career around a clear principle: high-quality healthcare should not depend on geography, income, or circumstance. From pediatric emergency medicine and community-based care to physician advocacy, health technology, women’s leadership, and international humanitarian service, her work reflects a consistent commitment to expanding access and putting humanity back at the center of medicine. As a Founding Physician Advisor at CareCrowd, Dr. Jackson is helping shape a physician-led model of patient advocacy designed to provide families with continued medical guidance beyond traditional healthcare encounters. Her leadership also extends to supporting the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in medicine. Her perspective on healthcare innovation is equally compelling. Technology, including AI, digital health, and telemedicine, should not replace the physician–patient relationship—it should strengthen it by giving clinicians more time to listen, think, and care. For Dr. Jackson, leadership is ultimately about service, advocacy, and ensuring that every child and family has the opportunity to receive the care they deserve. What happens when medicine stops talking at patients—and starts listening to them? For more than three decades, Prof. Zoltan Pataky has championed a person-centred approach to chronic disease care, built on a simple principle: patients are not just recipients of treatment; they are active partners in shaping it. As Professor of Medicine at Geneva University Hospitals and the HUG - Hopitaux Universitaires de Genève, and Head of the Unit of Therapeutic Patient Education for Diabetes and Obesity, Prof. Pataky continues to advance a model that brings together clinical care, research, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration. His approach challenges traditional thinking around obesity and diabetes. Rather than reducing chronic disease to symptoms, willpower, or information, he emphasizes understanding the patient’s circumstances, setting meaningful goals together, and building the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for sustainable change. Under his leadership, a multidisciplinary team of more than 30 professionals delivers approximately 7,000 outpatient consultations annually, while the Unit’s educational programs and international collaborations continue to influence healthcare professionals beyond Geneva. At the heart of Prof. Pataky’s philosophy is a powerful message: “Treating begins with understanding.” His work is a reminder that the future of chronic disease care may depend not only on better treatments, but on creating healthcare systems where listening, partnership, and respect are fundamental to medicine.
