📊 Poland's 2027 tax reform isn't one change — it's several moving at once. A new 24% PIT band, 22% CIT for the largest taxpayers, and a lump-sum threshold cut from EUR 2 million to just EUR 250,000. The detail that catches many off guard: eligibility for the lump-sum regime in 2027 would be decided by revenue generated in 2026 — meaning the planning window is already open. WHT mistakes rarely happen at the refund stage. They usually happen much earlier — before the payment is even made. For companies making cross-border payments from Poland, withholding tax should not be treated as a last-minute accounting task. It requires proper review, documentation and timing. Some of the most common risk areas include: • not tracking the PLN 2 million threshold per taxpayer • applying WHT preferences without checking all conditions • relying only on a tax residence certificate • failing to verify beneficial owner status • inconsistencies between contracts, invoices, transfers and tax forms • missing WH-OSC / WH-OSP deadlines In practice, these issues can lead to delays, additional questions from the tax authority or the need to collect WHT at the standard domestic rate.
