Through our Innovation Fund, we’re supporting organizations working to strengthen the healthcare workforce by addressing needs of the communities they serve, such as 2024 grantee Instituto del Progreso Latino. Through training, academic support and comprehensive student services, Instituto helps students become the next generation of bilingual, culturally responsive healthcare leaders. We’ve been honored to attend Instituto’s Una Familia Annual Gala and celebrate the graduations of several bilingual nursing cohorts. As the latest cohort graduates today, we’re once again reminded of the impact of this collaboration. Hear below from Evelyn Hernandez, Director, Healthcare Market at Genentech, about why we support organizations like Instituto and learn more about their work here: http://spr.ly/6040CEpKa

For scientist Joan Ashby, science isn’t just a profession, it’s personal. Her family’s battle with an aggressive form of blood cancer motivates her to attend meetings, like #ASH25, where she connects with colleagues across hematology to discuss what matters most: driving scientific progress that brings hope to patients and families. Follow Joan as she hears from our hematology leaders as they share how our science continues raising the bar for care across blood cancers and rare diseases, like leukemia, lymphoma and hemophilia A.

Last week, I had the privilege of joining colleagues from around the world in San Diego for the Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease (#CTAD) conference. Having two decades of experience in #neuroscience, witnessing the energy around #Alzheimer’s was more than invigorating—it was a powerful reminder of the relentless commitment required to combat this disease. While we’ve seen continued progress over the past three years in Alzheimer’s treatments and diagnostics, truly changing the trajectory of this devastating neurodegenerative disease requires continuous research, resilience and a willingness to explore new paths. My top three takeaways that define the path ahead: 1. We are stronger when we learn from our challenges: The momentum we’re seeing is grounded in scientific problem-solving, and a clear recognition that persistence - not perfection - is the key to delivering potential impact and hope. 2. The next frontier of drug delivery is here: We are moving beyond the limitations of first-generation anti-amyloid treatments by engineering molecules for success that have the potential to bridge the blood-brain barrier. 3. Personalizing the pipeline is critical: Our strategy is not singular – from next-generation bispecific antibodies to approaches like oral gamma secretase modulators – we are designing with an end-to-end approach in mind. The question is no longer whether disease modification is possible, but how quickly can we deliver it. In the face of an aggressive disease like extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), early detection and maximizing the impact of first-line therapy is paramount. Understand the urgency behind ES-SCLC and how we are helping to drive faster action to maximize the opportunity to provide people with more time to lead their lives.
