How can Africa's next wave of energy and rail investment translate into lasting local growth? At last week's FT Africa Summit in London, Selim Basak and Pranav Khamar explored how long-term capital can help turn the continent's resources and infrastructure ambitions into wider economic opportunity. For energy, the opportunity is to meet international demand while strengthening domestic supply and supporting local industry. Partnerships between private investors and development finance institutions can help move projects towards delivery. For rail, better connections can open up markets for landlocked economies, strengthen regional supply chains and support businesses along trade corridors, extending the benefits beyond moving goods to ports. Across both discussions, patient capital, local knowledge and long-term partnerships were central to ensuring investment creates lasting value for local communities and economies. Thank you to the Financial Times and our fellow panellists for the discussions.
