If we're going to devote most of our lives to work, it might as well be with the intention to create something that outlives us.

We're celebrating the wrong things in business and focusing on a clock that's meant for survival. That trains us into habits and beliefs that are simply... immature
- Text-onlyLately, I’ve been involved in a lot of brilliant and complex deep-tech companies in the EU that want to explode into the global market. And a misconception that I keep bumping up against is the assumption that superior technology automatically creates superior market understanding. It doesn’t. I’ve seen technically exceptional companies struggle with questions like: 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒕𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 ‘𝒈𝒆𝒕’ 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒅𝒐? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝑼𝑺 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚? In many cases, the issue isn’t the product. It’s the commercial translation. Technical founders often communicate in the language of precision. And all their peers applaud. ...But markets buy in the language of outcomes, risk reduction, strategic advantage, and future certainty. And because of that gap, you get slower sales cycles, weaker investor conviction, confused positioning, longer enterprise adoption timelines, and internally, teams struggle to articulate value consistently. Particularly around decision makers who are often non-technical. Especially in the Nordics, where amazing innovation is taking place, I’ve noticed many highly sophisticated companies systematically understate their strategic value in global markets. It breaks my heart because their technology has enormous merit and their solutions are quite frankly mind-blowing, but the narrative architecture surrounding their work is almost always poorly designed for commercial persuasion. The global markets rarely reward companies for being technically correct. They reward companies that become commercially understood, trusted, and strategically legible.LINKEDIN · TEXT-ONLYSince 27 May 2026
- Text-onlyHad a call this week with a company that said they needed digital marketing… urgently! • LinkedIn. • SEO. • Ads. All the usual things. The brief they shared beforehand made sense, and in fact, got me excited because this was a 25-year-old business with a solid reputation looking to grow. But 10 minutes into our discovery, I realized digital marketing wasn’t their problem. They work with general contractors in NYC. That market doesn’t run on organic content or ads. It runs on: who you know who trusts you who puts you on the bid list who calls you when a project comes up No GC is scrolling LinkedIn looking for a glazing contractor. No one is clicking a Google ad and thinking, “this is whom I’ll trust on a multi-million dollar project with.” So I told them something they didn’t expect: I can’t help you with this digital marketing project, and it’s not because I can’t, but because, in your case, for your niche, digital marketing campaigns and LinkedIn social posting are only a small part of the marketing equation necessary to build a pipeline. Fragmenting your marketing strategy and hiring means that, at best, you’ll end up with vanity metrics and KPIs that sound impressive but won't do anything to improve cash flow. I know that’s not what gurus might have you believe, but the reality is, when it comes to your business growth in 2026, what you need is: a. better access to the right contractors, b. stronger positioning inside existing networks, c. more ways to stay top of mind when projects open Digital can support that, but it can’t replace it. And there’s a specific way it can and should support your growth this year, but it will require you to change your thinking around marketing. There was a long silence in the room… after which we had a real conversation about what marketing should look like for their business. Your takeaway for this: Just because marketing and promotion are important doesn’t mean you follow a cookie-cutter approach. Before you pick a channel, you have to answer a simpler question: How does business actually happen in my market? Everything else comes after that. ---- #b2bfounders #b2bstartups #digitalmarketingLINKEDIN · TEXT-ONLYSince 5 May 2026
- Text-onlyIf you need sales this month, LinkedIn posting for visibility is pretty much the wrong move. I know that’s not what people want to hear, but it must be said. Founders assume (after watching Gary, Alex, or someone else they admire) that they have a content problem. Yes, you do have a content problem, and a content plan ought to be included in your overall business strategy. But the bigger problem that a B2B startup founder faces is: Access Think with me… When someone says, “We need leads urgently.” What they often mean is: “We don’t have enough conversations with the right people.” And instead of fixing that, they decide to hire a social media manager to: • post more • write newsletters • build an audience Because it feels like progress. It isn’t. Content doesn’t create urgency, it doesn’t create timing, and certainly doesn't create that moment where someone decides: “I need to solve this now.” That moment already exists for your buyer when a project opens, or something breaks, or a deal catches fire, and someone starts to feel the pressure. That’s when the buying trigger happens. If you’re not close to those moments, posting won’t get you there fast enough. What actually works when you need sales now: 1. Go back to people you already know. 2. Follow up on conversations that went quiet. 3. Reach out to people who are already in motion. 4. Get into rooms where things are happening. Then use LinkedIn properly as a way to: a. stay visible b. show you understand the problem c. demonstrate how you approach solving the problem they are currently trying to solve Posting helps when there is already proximity. Without that, it’s just broadcasting into a very big ocean. If you’re selling in a high-trust, high-stakes environment, don't conflate the role of LinkedIn. Content is important, and it does drive pipeline, when the purpose and plan are clearly mapped out. ---- #B2Bmarketing #Contentmarketing #B2BContentmarketing #LinkedInmarketingLINKEDIN · TEXT-ONLYSince 21 Apr 2026
- Text-onlyMisusing content is such a waste. And I’m not even talking about the waste in budget, human resources, or time. I’m talking about the waste that comes from delayed progress while simultaneously BSing yourself into thinking that you’re doing well. I mean come on, what do follower growth and Likes have to do with what your clients genuinely care about? You’re not in the consumer business, and you’re not a content creator hoping to score sponsorships and brand deals. So what are we doing here really? If we are serious about building sustainable businesses, then we need real demand, not “feel good vibes” (which is what you get if you keep following social media superstars and their advice). Content is so valuable in B2B. But we really need digital maturity as founders, so we can discern what content should do in the spaces we play in. The 'hype' around internet virality is now stabilizing; hopefully, we can also finally stabilize the hype around content and the role it should play in our business strategy. --- #b2bcontentmarketing #contentmarketingstrategy #b2bstartupsLINKEDIN · TEXT-ONLYSince 6 Apr 2026
