Behind every piece of infrastructure Gas Networks Ireland delivers is a team of people who make it happen. We were delighted to welcome Taoiseach Micheál Martin and more than 80 guests to Mitchelstown, where colleagues from our Project Delivery and Asset Operations teams showcased our new central grid injection (CGI) facility and the innovation behind it. The Mitchelstown CGI is the first facility in Ireland and Europe to inject biomethane directly into a national transmission network. Unlike facilities that connect to local distribution networks, the Mitchelstown CGI will allow renewable gas from producers located across the country to access the gas network while overcoming potential capacity constraints. The event was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the expertise and collaboration of our colleagues and construction partner GMC Utilities Group which helped build this pioneering project and support the future growth of renewable gas in Ireland. https://lnkd.in/exSZGZsC #MovingIrelandsEnergy #Biomethane #RenewableGas Department of the Taoiseach Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S) Department of Transport RGFI - Renewable Gas Forum Ireland ENNOH ENTSOG Joe Ryan, Cathal Fitzgerald, Fergal Mulligan, Dr. Tanya Harrington, Fingleton White Conor Healy
