The most dangerous sentence in a company: “That’s how we’ve always done it.” There is usually a reason why a process exists. Someone developed it to solve a problem, improve quality or make work more reliable. Over time, people learned to trust it. The trouble starts when nobody remembers the original problem, but everybody keeps following the process. I think this is a real challenge for established industrial companies. Experience is one of our greatest strengths. We know our products, our customers and our operations. But experience can also make it harder to recognize when the conditions have changed. A process that made sense ten years ago may still work perfectly well today. Or it may be slowing us down without anyone noticing, simply because questioning it has never become part of the routine. The distinction matters. I am not arguing for change for its own sake. In production, for example, consistency and standards are essential. At the same time you should be able to explain why a process works, what it is meant to achieve and whether it still delivers that result. That requires a certain kind of leadership. Not leaders who question everything themselves, but leaders who make it acceptable for their teams to ask questions that might be uncomfortable. Why do we do it this way? What would happen if we approached it differently? What are we missing? Those questions can expose inefficiencies, but they can also reveal that an established approach is still the right one. Both outcomes are useful. The real problem is when nobody asks at all. In a changing market, protecting what has made a company successful is important. Knowing what no longer serves it is just as important. And sometimes, the first step is simply being willing to ask why. #Leadership #Transformation

Today’s industrial applications require more from filter media than ever before. Understanding operating conditions, identifying the root of a problem, and selecting the appropriate material are equally important as the filtration process on its own. In our latest interview, Adam Guo, Sales Manager at Freudenberg Performance Materials, shares his perspective on changing demands in industrial filtration. With over 13 years of experience in the field, Guo discusses what makes PET Filtura® pleated filter media effective, the growing importance of total cost of ownership, and how new applications, such as lithium battery manufacturing and metal 3D printing, are shaping the market. Read the full interview to discover Adam’s insights into technical challenges, customer needs, and the future of high-performance filter media. If you are interested in learning more about PET Filtura® pleatable filter media, feel free to contact Adam on LinkedIn.

When filtration becomes more challenging, the choice of filter media becomes critical. Industrial filtration systems must capture challenging particles, withstand repeated cleaning cycles, and maintain stable performance over time. However, when filter media lack the proper balance of stiffness, pleat stability, and mechanical strength, achieving optimal efficiency can be difficult. Our Filtura® portfolio includes advanced synthetic filter media developed for demanding air filtration applications. Our PET pleatable filter media combine mechanical stability, pleatability, and tear resistance, supporting reliable filter performance and a long service life. The combination of needle-punched PET and thermal calendering creates a stable material structure designed for precise pleating and reliable performance. Depending on the application, the media can be combined with ePTFE membranes, anti-static coatings, or flame-retardant treatments. Filtura®Media help filter manufacturers address increasingly demanding particle filtration challenges. There is another important consideration that people may overlook. Filter performance does not stop at particle capture. Stable pressure drop, efficient pulse cleaning, and a long service life can contribute to more efficient filtration systems and lower total operating costs. Learn more about PET pleatable Filtura®Media and how advanced nonwoven technology can improve industrial filtration.

A wound dressing is rarely just one product. In everyday practice, a primary dressing like our new CMC, alginate, or chitosan materials does the work of managing the wound bed itself. It absorbs exudate, forms a gel, and supports the right healing environment. But almost none of them work alone. They need a secondary dressing to hold them in place, protect them, and complete the job. This is exactly where Tacnera® comes in as it perfectly complements primary wound dressings. Tacnera® was developed specifically to resolve what's often called the adhesion-trauma dilemma. Foam dressings with particularly gentle silicones often don't adhere firmly enough, while stronger silicones increase the risk of skin trauma and tissue damage at every dressing change. That trade-off has long reduced both patient comfort and clinical confidence, and it's limited how far foam dressings could really go in the premium segment. Tacnera® enables a dual-silicone design, with strong edge fixation and a gentle wound contact layer to protect newly formed tissue. A patented wave-pattern coating allows the dressing to adapt to wound shapes while promoting vertical absorption. Many primary dressings like alginate and CMC can shrink, potentially leaving a gap between the filler and the wound surface where exudate can pool. With Tacnera®, however, the dressing can conform to deeper wound geometries, helping to maintain closer contact as the filler changes in volume. I am proud to announce that wound dressings featuring Tacnera® are now CE certified and several product launches will follow in the next weeks. Honestly, that's the part I'm most excited about. Concepts and lab results only tell you so much. What I'm really looking forward to know is hearing from the clients and clinicians actually using it, and learning what this means in practice.
