𝐎𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐣: 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭. For four decades, the Oslomej valley in Kičevo, North Macedonia, powered the region with lignite. Today the former mine floor hosts the country's largest solar plant and the next step is storage: Fortis Energy is upgrading Oslomej SPP into a hybrid plant with BESS. Oslomej SPP (80 MW) was developed, built and is operated by Fortis Energy on the depleted open-cast mine that once supplied the REK Oslomej thermal power plant, in partnership with the national utility. The plant was completed in 2023 and began delivering power in 2024. With more than 123k panels, it generates over 120 GWh of clean electricity a year and avoids an estimated 85k tonnes of CO₂e annually. The site sits on Europe's last lignite belt. In 2022, lignite still supplied around 55 percent of electricity and heat production across the Western Balkans, at a carbon intensity of roughly one tonne of CO₂ per megawatt-hour. Kičevo is one of the regions covered by the EU's Coal Regions in Transition initiative for the Western Balkans. Former mining land of this kind carries a practical advantage: according to Global Energy Monitor, closed and closing coal mines worldwide could host around 300 GW of solar capacity, and most sit within 10 km of an existing grid connection point. The battery system now being integrated (104 MWh BESS) will shift midday solar generation into the evening demand ramp and provide ancillary services to the grid: frequency and voltage support within milliseconds, reduced curtailment and congestion relief. In Fortis Energy's framework, the combined plant corresponds to a green baseload equivalent of 16.5 MW: renewable output converted into firm, dispatchable supply. This matters as demand profiles change. Industry, cities and data centres draw power around the clock; the IEA expects global data centre electricity use to more than double by 2030, from 415 TWh to around 945 TWh. The thermal plant still stands on the horizon at Oslomej. An energy transition rarely switches one system off overnight; it replaces it, step by step. Oslomej is part of Fortis Energy's development pipeline of more than 3.5 GW across Europe, built on the same vision: Green baseload for Europe.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.⚡ The defining challenge of the energy transition is no longer generating renewable electricity; it is delivering it as firm, dispatchable power. Cities operate around the clock. Industrial loads run continuous processes. And data centers, the backbone infrastructure of the AI and digital information era, have introduced a demand profile of unprecedented scale: flat, relentless and intolerant of even momentary supply gaps. Fortis implements a technology-driven Green Baseload strategy designed to deliver uninterrupted, competitive and low-carbon power by integrating complementary renewable sources; solar, wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS) into single, co-optimized portfolios. Solar and wind offset each other's generation gaps across daily and seasonal cycles; BESS absorbs surplus and discharges into deficits, converting a variable output curve into firm capacity. The result mirrors the reliability characteristics of conventional baseload generation, without the carbon footprint, without the cost premium. Fortis brings more than a decade of execution to this model: over 800 MW of renewable projects delivered across multiple markets and 252 MW of operational capacity today spanning North Macedonia, Türkiye and Serbia. This experience now shapes how the 3.5 GW European pipeline is built; projects structured from the outset as Green Baseload sets, with wind and solar paired by design, sized against each other's generation profiles and coupled with BESS. Serbia is where this takes its clearest shape: the 194 MWe Gornjak wind project is developed hand in hand with the 270 MWp Nočaj solar plant and the same logic pairs Vranje WPP with Erdevik SPP, Juhor WPP with Tijovac SPP. Further south, the model is already leaving the drawing board; 75 MWp Ersekë SPP in Albania is under construction and 80 MWp Oslomej SPP in North Macedonia is already in commercial operation.

Fortis Energy will exhibit at Intersolar Europe 2026, 23–25 June at Messe München, as part of The smarter E Europe. At the booth, we will present our active project pipeline across solar, storage and hybrid generation, and the infrastructure behind our Green Baseload model. The energy transition has largely solved how to generate clean power. The harder question is how to guarantee it. Green Baseload is Fortis Energy's answer: a single dispatchable system that integrates solar, wind and storage to deliver firm, around-the-clock output the grid can schedule and depend on. This is what turns renewables from a supplementary source into foundational infrastructure and what makes decarbonization and energy security achievable at the same time. ♾️ Opening Day Networking Event - 23 June We are hosting an open networking event at our booth on the first day. It is open to all attendees: investors, developers, EPC partners, offtakers and industry peers are invited to discuss where the European energy landscape is heading and where the opportunities lie.

Fortis Energy is advancing the development of a utility-scale 104 MWh BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) at the 80 MWp Oslomej Solar Power Plant, targeting full integration in 2026. Completed in 2023 in North Macedonia, Oslomej SPP stands as a landmark in the region's green transition, having transformed a former coal mine site into a clean energy hub with an annual generation potential exceeding 112 GWh. The upcoming BESS integration is set to elevate its performance even further. Design and permitting are currently underway, with preparatory works being planned ahead of construction mobilization. The upcoming BESS integration will further elevate Oslomej's top-tier operational performance, adding a powerful new dimension to an already benchmark solar asset. The project will be deployed in two sequential 52 MWh phases, with both slated for full operationalization within 2026, bringing the total installed capacity to 104 MWh. This system will facilitate energy time-shifting, allowing Fortis Energy to capture surplus generation during peak irradiance and discharge it during peak demand intervals. This firming of the power output elevates the Oslomej plant to a resilient, on-demand energy asset, further reinforcing its role as a model for green energy transformation on a repurposed industrial site.
