What material thrives in the toughest, tightest neurovascular environments? Superelastic Nitinol. An untreated aneurysm can instantly result in a life-altering stroke. But our customers’ flow diverters made from Nitinol are compressed into a catheter, navigate delicate vessels, and then expand precisely at the treatment site, redirecting blood flow away from the aneurysm and saving someone’s life. Nitinol’s unique combination of flexibility, recoverable strain, and strength makes the critical work of flow diverters possible. Learn more about Nitinol’s capabilities in supporting our customers' lifesaving medical devices. See comments below for link.

What if a material could do more than support a device and actively contribute to its performance? For many orthopaedic applications, superelastic Nitinol bar does just that. Its unique combination of flexibility, recoverability, and force delivery supports a wide range of orthopaedic applications. In foot, ankle, and tibia fracture repair, surgeons implant a compression nail containing superelastic Nitinol during the procedure, creating continuous compression across the fracture site. Rather than simply holding bone in place, the Nitinol’s superelasticity helps the device maintain compression and mechanical loading during the critical healing period, supporting bone growth and recovery. Customers can count on Nitinol bar to provide: ✔️ Continuous compression to support fracture healing ✔️ Flexibility to navigate complex anatomy ✔️ Shape recovery to help devices maintain performance even after significant deformation. With vertically integrated processing from melt to finished product, our Nitinol bar helps customers harness superelasticity to solve complex orthopaedic challenges and keep projects moving forward.

Choosing the right material and configuration for your strand or cable isn't always straightforward. That's because every cable design involves trade-offs. While our engineering experts are always available to help you find the right solution for your application, understanding these trade-offs is a good place to start. Optimizing one performance characteristic often influences another, so success comes down to finding the right balance. ✅ Need more flexibility? You may give up torque transmission, pushability, and column strength. ✅ Need better torque transmission? Expect increased stiffness and reduced flexibility. ✅ Need higher tensile strength? Larger diameters and increased stiffness can limit flexibility. ✅ Need greater elongation resistance? Reduced compliance and flexibility may result. ✅ Need improved fatigue performance? Design choices that enhance durability can affect strength or torque response. Engineers can fine-tune these trade-offs through variables such as filar count, filar diameter, material selection, cable construction, lay direction, pitch, and coatings. The goal is to identify which performance characteristics matter most and design the construction around those priorities. No single strand or cable design is best at everything. The right solution is the one that's engineered for your specific application. Leverage our capabilities and expertise to move your next project forward.
