What are bandages in passive fire protection? 🔍 Fire protection bandages – often referred to as wraps – are flexible materials applied around pipes or cables. In the event of fire the bandages help to: 🛑 seal openings caused by melting materials 🛑 reduce heat transfer 🛑 limit the spread of fire and smoke along services We offer various fire protection bandages for different applications: ➡️ NBR‑plus – for sealing non-combustible pipes with combustible insulation ➡️ DG‑CR 0.7 – for cables and cable ducts ➡️ KSL‑W – for combustible pipes with and without insulation

C for Coating 🔍 In passive fire protection, coatings influence how materials behave in case of fire 🔥 There are two different working principles: 🟠 Intumescent coatings expand when exposed to heat and form an insulating layer. ▶️ Typically used where heat transfer to the substrate must be delayed, such as on structural steel to maintain load-bearing capacity during a fire. 🔵 Ablative coatings protect by absorbing heat and releasing moisture, helping to limit temperature rise and flame spread. ▶️ Commonly used for cable protection, cable penetration sealings and other fire protection systems where the performance of the protected system must be maintained under fire conditions.
