Time doesn't always determine when a crane needs attention. Its condition does. 🏗️ That's exactly why FIELD Engineers embeds professional engineering oversight within fleet compliance inspections. Across Australia and overseas, FIELD acts as a third-party inspector for large-scale auditing programs involving multiple crane types—sometimes hundreds of wharf, mobile and overhead cranes within a single fleet. Supporting that capability is a team of 7 CraneSafe® Endorsed Assessors, experienced across almost every type of crane. CraneSafe®, administered by The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA), is a voluntary third-party visual assessment program for the condition of material crane components that contribute to crane safety. It supports annual compliance inspections aligned with the relevant requirements of the AS 2550 Cranes, Hoists and Winches – Safe Use series. Our team completes reporting in parallel with inspections to minimise downtime, then we integrate professional engineering where strategic expertise is needed to maximise the safe working life of ageing assets. Where cranes and other mobile and high-risk plant are approaching their structural design life based on theoretical calculations, our engineers look beyond the numbers. We assess the asset’s physical condition, consider the design standards it was originally built to, review how it’s actually being utilised, and recommend inspection schedules that reflect real-world operating conditions. The result? A practical roadmap for confidently managing an entire fleet—not just a report on a single inspection. A defect list tells you what's wrong with your fleet. A professional engineer tells you what needs attention now, what can wait, and what to budget for next. With seven endorsed assessors across the FIELD team and on-call access to engineers to support any left-of-field findings, we can accommodate changing shutdown schedules, minimise delays and respond when inspection timeframes shift. Discover how several major crane fleet audits by FIELD’s multi-disciplinary team enabled prioritised maintenance, regulatory compliance and smarter capital forecasting—all while minimising operational disruption. 👉 Read the case study: https://lnkd.in/gZahHyaS #AssetIntegrity #AssetManagement #CraneEngineering #MaintenanceStrategy #HighRiskPlant #HeavyIndustry #EngineeringInspection

We’re down-to-earth engineers. Literally. One day we’re crawling around draglines, caked in dirt and black jack. If you know, you know. The next, we’re at the desk delivering high-end engineering analysis and design for a washplant, conveyor or other critical asset. That’s the advantage of working with FIELD. Our engineers don't specialise in just one piece of plant or machinery. They bring experience from across heavy industry—constantly learning, adapting and applying ideas from one project, to the next. Sometimes, solving problems no one else can. It's the kind of expertise that enables us to take on challenges other firms consider too hard. That's because our fundamental difference is site experience. As our aptly titled Site Services Manager and Director, @Jon Halliday, loves to say, "We're called FIELD Engineers for a reason!" Through countless days spent in the field understanding how heavy plant behaves in real operating conditions, our engineers develop a deep appreciation for what they're looking at. That collective understanding of machine dynamics, structural loading and component interaction gives us an edge. It means our recommendations are more informed, more targeted and more effective because they're grounded in practical operating experience that flows through to our desktop engineering. A great example is our work for Koniambo Nickel in New Caledonia described in this case study: https://lnkd.in/gVH4ePPy When a critical wet ore stacker developed complex slewing problems that threatened production and safety, FIELD leveraged expertise typically applied to draglines, shovels and excavators in Queensland mining operations—to identify contributing factors, engineer a complete replacement methodology and support the shutdown. The outcome? The stacker was safely returned to service for around one-fifth of the cost quoted by other Australian engineering providers, with improved long-term reliability, while minimising downtime. Different equipment. Different sites. Same goal: helping clients to solve problems with practical, informed engineering. 👉 Come to our site at fieldengineers.com.au and take a look around. You might be surprised by just how many ways FIELD helps heavy industry clients get the best performance from their infrastructure. #HeavyIndustry #Engineering #Mining #AssetPerformance #IndustrialEngineering #EngineeringSolutions #AustralianIndustry #FIELDEngineers
