When it comes to critical AI applications, Is “human in the loop” enough? In the sixth season of his series on Responsible AI, FICO Chief Analytics Officer Dr. Scott Zoldi dives into this and other important topics with Dr. Felix Njeh, PhD, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Nelix ChipDesign, a Ghanaian fabless semiconductor company that is designing Africa’s first indigenous edge AI and security-hardened silicon platform. In this clip, the second of five from the episode, Scott and Felix further discuss the important distinction between “human in the loop” and “human in control.” As AI applications move into production, it’s critical to constrain the machine––that is, constrain the AI to allowable paths. That’s “human in control.” Check out the clip to hear what Scott and Felix have to say about how control is achieved by “making sure that guardrails are baked into the design.” #AI #ResponsibleAI #AILeadership #AIGovernance #HumanInTheLoop #HumanInControl #AgenticAI

Most teams can point to where AI is working. Defending exactly how it got there is harder, and many are still leaning on old-style system logs instead of tools that show the reasoning. See how 1,004 senior executives are approaching that gap.

Only 5.2% of tech leaders say they feel very confident explaining AI decisions to regulators and customers. FICO surveyed 1,004 senior data, analytics, and AI executives to find out why. - Transparency tops the list: leaders rank AI model development standards (71.9%) and interpretable model architectures (67.9%) as the practices with the greatest potential impact. - The audit gap is real: 75.8% still rely on traditional logging within existing systems to explain AI decisions, even as more than half invest in bias detection tools. - The stakes are rising: only 28.5% of customer-impacting decisions are made by AI today, and 85.1% of leaders already say AI has met or exceeded their ROI expectations. The trust gap between what AI can do and what leaders can defend is where this year's findings live. See the full survey to check where your organization stands.
