A discovery campaign can produce hundreds or thousands of binders. The question that decides the programme is whether any of them can be made into a drug. Our co-founder Maria Gonzalez-Pajuelo spoke to Drug Discovery News about why that question now belongs at the start of discovery. Stability, solubility, expression, purity and manufacturability decide whether a candidate can be produced consistently and formulated for its route of administration. A liability found once a lead is in development turns that lead into an engineering project. Maria wants these properties assessed while there are still other candidates to choose from. The same thinking applies to the choice of platform. Hybridoma, transgenic animals, phage, yeast and mammalian display each suit different targets. "Not one strategy fits all," she told Drug Discovery News. The biology and the target product profile make the call. She also makes the case for VHHs as building blocks for bispecific and multispecific formats, a point she argued at THE ANTIBODY SERIES 2026. On AI, she expects faster engineering and optimisation, and sees novel discovery as still unsettled. https://lnkd.in/eNrwTPWf #AntibodyDiscovery #FairJourneyBio #Developability #Bispecifics

Since 2021, our goal with THE ANTIBODY SERIES has been to build a vibrant, thinking community, one that exchanges knowledge and experience to develop projects that give people back hope and time. Tonight reminded us exactly why that mission matters. A huge thank you to our Day 2 speakers: Sai Reddy, Sarel Fleishman, Surge Biswas, Aneesh Karatt Vellatt, Anna Wec, Ph.D., and Maria Gonzalez-Pajuelo. Your insights gave us all so much to think about, and even more to talk about. By the end of the second day, we gathered for our Gala Dinner, sponsored by Scientist.com, at the historic Palácio de Cadaval, a 14th-century palace built on the ruins of a Moorish castle that once served as a temporary residence to Portuguese kings, right in the heart of Évora. It meant so much to see already strong bonds grow even closer in such a setting. Soon, Day 3's talks will come to a close, and our closing ceremony will leave us with a feeling only one word can truly describe: "saudade", a word that exists only in Portuguese. #TheAntibodySeries #TAS2026 #AntibodyDiscovery #FairJourneyBio

From new connections to fresh discoveries, Day 1 delivered exactly what THE ANTIBODY SERIES is meant to be. To our chairs, Laura Walker and John Desjarlais, thank you for guiding the official opening, introducing every talk, and leading our panel discussions with such energy and precision. A huge thank you to our Day 1 speakers Robert Seder, Wyatt McDonnell, Greg Lazar, Melissa Geddie, and Jo Hulme: your insights fueled every conversation in the room. And to our sponsors: Benchling, GENEWIZ from Azenta Life Sciences, INFORS HT, KACTUS, MedChemExpress LLC, PAN-Biotech GmbH, RNACoreX, Samplix, Sapio Sciences, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters Corporation Biosciences, Eppendorf, Sartorius, and Scientist.com. Our heartfelt thank you for helping to make this gathering possible. The day closed with the flavours of the Alentejo in the air, joy on every face, and genuine exchange all around, as Encanta Modas, a traditional Portuguese singing group, brought a piece of this cherished region's soul to our poolside barbecue. Day 2 has already begun, and we've got more to share very soon. Stay tuned! 🧬 #TheAntibodySeries #TAS2026 #AntibodyDiscovery #FairJourneyBio

Today marks the start of THE ANTIBODY SERIES 2026. 🎉 Évora opens its doors at the heart of the #Alentejo, one of the most emblematic and history-rich regions of Portugal, to welcome over 300 scientists and thinkers who are shaping the future of #antibodydiscovery. Once again, we have brought together the people shaping where antibody science goes next, from computational design to new therapeutic frontiers. But more than the talks, these three days are about genuine knowledge-sharing, about bringing the field's best minds together to exchange ideas openly. For FairJourney Bio, this is our gift to science. A space to challenge biology to do more, together. Welcome to Évora. Welcome to TAS 2026. 🧬 #TheAntibodySeries #TAS2026 #AntibodyDiscovery #Évora #FairJourneyBio

🧬 The Paratope Report | August 2026 Edition is here Let's go inside the science and the field with FairJourney Bio. This month's edition features Kothai Parthiban, PhD, Head of Discovery & Engineering from our UK Unit, on the IL-12 switch campaign, a dual-specificity Fab that keeps IL-12 masked in circulation and active only at the tumour site. We also head to the field, with our CEO Werner Lanthaler and CSO Teresa Barata joining argenx for a live Fireside Chat at their Ghent Campus, and our Senior BD Manager Carlos Santos presenting FJBio's capabilities at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. And in What's Next, find out where to meet FairJourney Bio across Europe this September and October, from Nordic Life Science Days to Festival of Biologics. 📖 Read the full edition #antibodydiscovery #FJBio #ParatopeReport #TheAntibodySeries
