Episode Three is live ⚡ In this conversation, Jess talks with co-founders Jessica Venning-Bryan and Simon Pohlen about what happens when Factor gets in front of the people who actually price energy contracts every day. We expected resistance. Instead, pricing teams told us something we didn't anticipate: Excel is great, but it can no longer deliver answers fast enough, and they were ready for something better. One pricing professional put it directly. Excel isn't going anywhere for the genuinely weird edge cases, but with Factor, the everyday work gets done twice as fast, and that time adds up. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/euWzsBBx

Most industries got their SaaS moment years ago. Energy is still catching up. New pricing tech in this industry usually means a "transformation project": months of implementation before anyone sees value. We built Factor differently, on purpose. Faster deployment, running a trial the same day you watch a demo. From there, drop in the pricing problems your team is actually stuck on, new EV propositions, battery products, whatever's getting complex, and see how simple Factor makes it. When you're ready, our API's let you embed Factor directly into your existing pricing process. Nothing changes for your team. Pricing just gets faster, and deals are won sooner.

Retailers have always had to balance two things: competitive enough to win customers, profitable enough to stay in business. That tension has never gone away. What has changed is the opportunity sitting inside it. As EV, solar, and battery products become mainstream, retailers have a real chance to shape customer behaviour in a way that works for the customer, for their own book, and for the energy transition at large. But doing that at scale requires more than good product thinking. It requires the ability to build and price those products quickly, accurately, and in a way that creates genuine incentives for customers to change how they use energy, without eroding the margin that makes it commercially viable. That is where many retailers are stuck right now. And it is the problem Factor was built to solve. usefactor.com

Businesses with large sites have a role to play in the energy transition that is critical to everyone's success. On-site generation serves the business itself, can benefit the surrounding community, and reduces the infrastructure investment required to get energy to those areas. It's one of the more elegant solutions available, and it's sitting underutilised largely because businesses haven't had enough of a commercial reason to move. That's where retailers come in. The right product, priced in a way that reflects what on-site generation is genuinely worth to a business, changes the calculation. Retailers who can build those incentives into contracts are the ones who unlock that investment and accelerate the transition in a way that works for everyone. Building products that do that requires pricing capability sophisticated enough to handle the complexity. Let's show you how you could be doing this today with Factor. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/eQbm5wvF

The nature of distributed energy is change. Weather shifts generation patterns. New technology changes how customers consume and produce energy. The market moves, and the products retailers have built need to move with it. For retailers pricing DER products, the ability to reforecast quickly is not a nice-to-have. It is what separates businesses that are keeping up from the ones getting ahead. A price built on assumptions that no longer reflect reality is a commercial risk sitting inside every contract on your book. The retailers who will lead in this space are the ones who can respond to change as it happens, not months later when the next contract renewal comes around. Factor was built for exactly this. Reforecasting at the speed the DER market demands, so your team is always working from an accurate picture and your products stay competitive as the market evolves. usefactor.com

Global energy businesses operate across regions, currencies, and regulatory frameworks. When we built Factor, we knew the ability to stand up new markets quickly was critical for both our customers and us. Factor is multi-tenanted, so each customer prices independently, with its own forecasts, charge logic, and rules, while running on a consistent platform. It means a new market or business line can be priced within days, not quarters. It means local teams stay in control of their own tariffs and conditions, while leadership still has one view across the whole portfolio. And it means every customer benefits the moment we improve the product, rather than waiting on a rollout schedule. For energy businesses pricing complex contracts across borders, that's the difference between software that scales with the business and software the business has to work around. 💭 Simon Pohlen usefactor.com
