AI Minutes is here and the clerk is still in control. Today, we’re launching AI Minutes to give clerks a better starting point for one of the most time-consuming parts of the meeting process. AI Minutes turns your meeting transcript into a first draft organized by agenda item and tailored to the way your organization prepares minutes. From there, you review, refine, and decide what moves forward through your normal approval process. AI Minutes handles the first draft. You bring the final say. Clerks were asked to name the single most important skill for 2026. Legal expertise came second. Technology management took first place at 45%. A posting written around minute-taking and procedural knowledge attracts candidates for a job the office no longer has. Whoever takes it inherits the live stream, the agenda system, and the records platform in week one. Training budgets, salary bands, and job descriptions in most municipalities still describe the administrative version of the role. Has your municipality updated the clerk job description in the last five years? The full session breaks down the whole skills ranking and what sits behind it. Link in the comments.

Elected officials cannot picture a job they have never done. Chris Astrella says clerks have to draw it for them. His method starts with a stopwatch. Track how long a recurring task actually takes, in six minute increments, the way an attorney bills. Then bring your council the total. 62% of clerks name budget pressure as the biggest factor shaping their office this year. That number comes from eScribe's 2026 State of the Clerk's Office Report and more than 700 responses. A council cannot fund work it has never seen. How would you describe your week to someone who has never sat in your chair? The full budget conversation with Chris Astrella and Chris King is on demand. Link in the comments.
