How well prepared are you with technological changes facing EU copyright law? Generative AI, deepfakes, new forms of online piracy and the question of fair remuneration for creators are raising challenges that do not always come with straightforward legal answers. At the same time, CJEU case law continues to evolve – with direct implications for rightsholders, platforms, businesses and legal practitioners. This intersection between current developments and their practical legal consequences is at the heart of ERA’s Annual Conference on EU Copyright Law, taking place online from 25–27 November 2026 (3 mornings). Some of the questions on the agenda are particularly timely: • How is generative AI changing responsibilities when it comes to copyright infringement? • Can copyright be a legal answer to address deepfakes? • Can the current framework ensure fair remuneration in the music, film and press sectors? • And what do recent CJEU rulings mean for copyright legal practice? The conference brings together different perspectives with plenty of room for discussion rather than simply moving from one presentation to the next. The final morning, for example, includes two round tables looking at current copyright challenges in the music and film sectors and fair remuneration in the press sector. For anyone working with copyright, intellectual property, platform regulation or digital business models, there should be plenty to discuss. What has shaped EU financial markets in 2026 and what will shape them in 2027 – what do legal, regulatory and compliance professionals need to prepare for now? On 10–11 December, ERA brings together experts from EU institutions, supervisory authorities, academia and private practice in Brussels and online to examine the regulatory developments behind these questions. The Savings and Investments Union and the Market Integration and Supervision Package are high on the agenda. Anne Schaedle from the European Commission will set the scene with an update on the EU financial regulatory agenda, while Ebbe Rogge from the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (Dutch Financial Markets Authority) and Leiden University will look at the latest developments around the MISP. Gonzalo Gasós from the European Banking Federation will add the perspective of the European banking sector on its competitiveness. Digital finance will form another major strand of the conference. Pierre d'Ormesson (DLA Piper) will address practical DORA compliance challenges, Aleksandra Asscheman (De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences) will discuss a potential MiCAR review, and Frederik von Essen (gunnercooke) will focus on market abuse in the crypto sector. And what happens when AI becomes an increasingly important part of financial markets? Panagiotis Papapaschalis (European Central Bank) will explore AI in payments and the application of the AI Act, followed by Andres Lehtmets (Andres Lehtmets Advisory) on agentic AI and its implications for financial advice. The second conference day turns to financial supervision in the EU – from AMLA - The EU Anti-Money Laundering Authority to the future of centralisation of supervision and the evolving role of European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). The programme concludes with a roundtable featuring Iliana Lani (ESMA), Ebbe Rogge and Giles Swan (Swan FS), discussing the next phase of EU financial supervision. Two days. Multiple perspectives. One opportunity to get up to speed on where EU financial market regulation and supervision are heading.
