For the fourth year, DTE is accepting grant applications for our electric vehicle (EV) Emerging Technology Fund program. These grants help innovators develop new EV pilots and projects that enable greater EV grid integration and break down barriers to EV adoption. Macedonia Baptist Church teamed up with DTE, upgrading 300+ lights to cut energy use, lower costs, and make their space brighter and welcoming.

“DTE Energy is helping me achieve my goals,” said Cliff Denha, Co-Owner of Wine Palace in Livonia. For more than 10 years, Wine Palace has partnered with DTE to make energy-efficient upgrades in the store from new LED bulbs that light up their bottle selection on the wall to stronger seals for their refrigerators to keep beverages chilled. “We were wasting a lot of energy, and people convinced me that if we switched to energy-efficient equipment, we’d save on our utility bills and help the environment,” said Denha. Since then, DTE has provided complimentary energy assessments, connected the business with local contractors and offered rebates that drastically reduced costs. Any Michigan small business can do the same.

The Wayne County Airport Authority partnered with DTE to make Detroit Metro Airport more energy efficient and the results are taking off! ✈️ “Saving energy is exciting because it not only helps the environment, it also saves the company money,” said Cathay Farrell, Utility Analyst, Power Systems for Wayne County Airport Authority. With support from DTE’s Energy Efficiency Program for Business, the airport has: ● Converted most runways and taxiways to LED lights and signs ● Installed variable frequency drives on 2,000+ motors in the bag belt system ● Upgraded boilers and chillers for better efficiency ● Earned rebates on major projects By reducing energy use, Detroit Metro Airport is improving operations, cutting costs and supporting sustainability goals.

“Immediately, my monthly $15,000 electric bill was cut to less than $5,000,” said James Haines, Owner of Central Shop Rite. Central Shop Rite in Vassar has cut its electrical bill by more than half with help from DTE’s LED lighting rebate programs and Refrigeration Program. Five years ago, the store began replacing 240 lights with high-efficiency LEDs and upgrading their refrigeration systems. The result: ● Lower monthly bills ● Less energy waste ● A better shopping experience for customers! DTE’s Refrigeration Program provides no-cost energy assessments, technical assistance and financial incentives to customers like Central Shop Rite looking to lower operating costs and energy use.
