We've just lived through the joint-hottest summer on record. Europe alone recorded over 36,000 excess deaths across a summer of back-to-back heatwaves. We can feel the strain of extreme heat in our bodies. And the academic evidence that this constitutes a public health emergency is overwhelming. Yet too little of it cuts through to policymakers or the public. And just when we most need fact-based, trusted reporting on the impacts of global heating on health, that journalism is disappearing as newsrooms cut climate roles and desks. But in our coverage of heat adaptation as part of The CATCH Heat Project at Boston University School of Public Health, we've seen communities across the Global South find new ways to adapt. We've reported on the many ways they're changing how they live, work and play to protect health and save lives. The extreme heat crisis has never been more urgent. But adaptation has never been more possible. That's the conversation we took to Climate Group #ClimateWeekNYC last week, where Dialogue Earth hosted a breakfast with our partners The CATCH Heat Project and cummins&partnersNYC on how journalism can mainstream the intersection of urban heat and public health. The climate crisis is a health emergency. It's time it was covered like one. Thank you to all who attended for the brilliant conversations and a lovely morning.

It has never been more urgent to address climate change. But it has also never been more possible. For 20 years, Dialogue Earth has told the whole climate and environment story. Our work brings local voices to the table, and considers all perspectives. We hold power to account, and provide solutions. We find the facts and start conversations. But trusted news is under attack from populist leaders and partisan commentators. And where journalism leaves a space, it is filled by disinformation and denial. We're not going anywhere. Our work has never been more urgent. And our commitment to it has never been stronger. The climate crisis is not waiting, but neither is the transition. Both are happening now. Both are changing lives. For 20 years, Dialogue Earth has understood that the full truth of the climate emergency must be reported. From the informal livelihoods India’s energy transition puts at risk, to the Indigenous women using solar power to light up Guatemalan communities. From the African refugees fleeing war only to face new climate disasters, to the Hong Kong oyster farmers adapting to a warmer world. Just when we need the most rigorous, independent journalism in the world, that journalism is disappearing. Never more urgent. Never more possible. Dialogue Earth.

As global temperatures rise and natural glaciers retreat, farming communities in northern Pakistan are turning to an ingenious nature-based solution. Artificial glaciers are what's helping them tackle seasonal water scarcity.

Extreme droughts and devastating floods are uprooting millions of people across East Africa. Experts are calling for locally grounded solutions to manage climate-induced migration not as a crisis, but as a pathway to resilience.

For over 7,000 years, Indigenous groups in Chilean Patagonia have protected their fragile coastal ecosystems. Now, a new legal framework that empowers them to manage these marine areas is under existential threat from industrial expansion.
