“Indigenous Business Month gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses like mine a platform to showcase our work and inspire the next generation of First Nations business owners.” says Josh Fauid, co-founder of Athe Threads. A Proud Porumalayg man from Poruma Island in the Torres Strait, Josh's brands' vintage look and feel pays homage to the times that came before ours. "Athe Threads was built on the idea of creating an environment where you would learn and understand the Torres Strait Islander culture. A brand that not only inspires my own people but those around me. Athe threads is a connection to understanding culture for those who are also far away from home." He explained. Established in 2021, Josh takes immense pride in what his team has built and shared some great advice. "The best way everyone can support the indigenous business is based off how we apply ourselves within the community as business leaders. Creating a space and community that allows everyone around us to feel just as empowered or proud as we do with our businesses. We can’t expect people to just support us if they don’t know what they are supporting," "My most memorable moment is always witnessing the brand getting around because it will never feel real but it’s a proud feeling seeing it being represented with such respect." #IndigenousBusiness #Queensland #IndigenousBusinessMonth #Entrepreneur #SmallBusiness #IBM2025
