Deakin University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (DUPRF) Some of the world's biggest challenges - from housing affordability to urban mobility, energy transition and climate adaptation - depend on our ability to plan and deliver complex construction projects more effectively. Addressing these challenges will require more than technical innovation - it demands fresh thinking, strong collaboration and a new generation of research leaders willing to challenge entrenched practice and ideas. I'm pleased to be supporting applications for the Deakin University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (DUPRF), an opportunity for outstanding early career researchers to take the next step in their careers while contributing to meaningful, industry-connected projects. At Deakin's School of Architecture and Built Environment, you'll join a collaborative research community that is rethinking how construction projects are planned, delivered, and governed. Through strong industry partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration, our research aims to improve the performance, resilience, and long-term value of the built environment. - Fully funded 3-year post-doctoral position - Competitive salary - Successful fellows will receive a once-off research support grant of $15,000 - Open to domestic and international applicants If you're motivated by research that can influence industry practice, inform policy and shape the future of the infrastructure our communities rely on, I'd encourage you to explore the fellowship 🔗 https://lnkd.in/giE4zBf9 Applications close 11.55pm on Monday 10 August 2026 (AEST) #PostdoctoralFellowship #BuiltEnvironmentResearch #DeakinUniversity #Research School of Architecture & Built Environment - Deakin University.

Last week’s Deakin TEDx event was a powerful celebration of ideas, collaboration and the brilliant research talent within our faculty and across the Deakin community. A huge thank you to our remarkable speakers, who stepped onto the TEDx red circle to share bold, thoughtful and deeply inspiring ideas. Each talk revealed the many ways science connects us to our environment, to each other, and to the possibilities shaping our shared future. Under the theme The Science of Us, we showcased seven brilliant minds: Louisa Graf, Dr Kira Hughes, Dominique Condo, Tuba Kocaturk, Kate Seear, Anika Molesworth, PhD and Emma Kowal, FASSA FAHMS GAICD. Their work reminds us that science sparks curiosity, drives collaboration and helps us imagine new possibilities. Thank you for bringing your research to the TEDx universe and for celebrating the inspiring work happening within SEBE and across Deakin's faculties, alumni and broader community - united in making a positive impact on our planet and its people. A heartfelt congratulations to the extraordinary SEBE team who brought this vision to life. Choosing just seven speakers from Deakin’s immense research talent was no easy task. Behind the scenes Tania Palich and Alexandria Lewis delivered a masterclass in organisation, calm and creativity, guiding every moving part. Thank you to our Executive Dean and TEDx alum, Nick Birbilis, whose leadership and passion for sharing impactful research set this project in motion. And to the wider group of contributors, Nick Stone, Stacy Doan, Jess Holmes, our phenomenal MC Wade Kelly, speaker coach Jon Yeo CSP, DJ Nicholas Reynolds, and the endlessly creative Gavin Blake, thank you for shaping an unforgettable experience. To the innovators, storytellers, volunteers and audiences who joined us to explore ideas worth spreading: thank you. Official recordings will be available on YouTube soon, we can’t wait to share them. Huge thanks to 🎥 Louis Narkowicz for this incredible highlights video, and 📸 Matt Dunne and Jake Plumridge for the stunning event photography.
