𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻. But most of the conversation starts with muscle. And stops there. The truth is, protein does a lot more than most of us give it credit for. It plays a role in 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆, and it helps support how the body builds and maintains itself over time. Join Kelly Dingess, to discover the power of protein beyond the obvious. 🎬 Tap play below for a first look. Most adults still don’t get enough fiber — but increasing intake only works if it is well tolerated. In a new study published in Current Developments in Nutrition, researchers showed that a diverse fiber mixture designed to reflect a nutritionally balanced diet was well tolerated in healthy adults over four weeks at 6 g/day. Gastrointestinal symptoms remained low and clinically acceptable, gut function stayed stable, and the mixture showed a favorable fermentation profile with short-chain fatty acid production without causing excessive gas production in vitro. Why does this matter? These findings suggest that fiber diversity may be an important lever — not just fiber quantity alone — when designing nutritional strategies to help bridge the fiber gap. It also reinforces the importance of combining scientific rigor with real-world tolerance to support lasting dietary change. At Danone Research & Innovation, we continue to explore how nutrition science can translate into evidence-based solutions that support gut health and broader well-being. 👇 Swipe through the key findings, including insights from Lotte Dopheide, and read the full paper on our website: https://lnkd.in/er9cmAEf. #GutHealth #MicrobiomeScience #DietaryFiber #NutritionScience #DanoneResearch #Innovation

What’s the most underrated thing your body does? 🤔 Hint: when you fuel it with protein, building muscle is just the headline. The real work is happening out of sight, all throughout your body. That’s because proteins aren’t just for gym gains: they drive every chemical process inside your cells. Proteins make up about 17% of our body mass – and they’re constantly being broken down and replaced, as your body maintains and repairs itself. 💡 That’s why the quality, quantity, and timing of the protein you eat is so important: because while protein is a crucial fuel for today, it’s also a future reserve for when you need it most. Join Kelly Dingess, PhD to discover the many unexpected roles of protein in the body. Special thanks to Ardy van Helvoort, Andrew Holwerda, Muriel Alkemade-Bots, and Rianne Halsberghe! 🎬 Check out the full video here: https://lnkd.in/eE73N347 And the meantime, get a taste by tapping play on the teaser below. 👇 #Protein #Nutrition #NutritionalScience #DanoneRnI

Not all beneficial microbes need to be alive to make an impact. As we celebrate this year’s World Microbiome Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the microscopic marvel earning a reputation as the ‘guardian of your gut.’ In this video, Gokul S., Director Biotics New Growth Spaces at Danone Research & Innovation, walks through the remarkable science behind Akkermansia muciniphila MucT. Present in more than 90% of healthy adults, this unique microbe has been found to have close ties to gut and metabolic health. MucT naturally resides in the gut’s mucus layer—the body’s first line of defense. Through specialized surface structures and bioactive proteins, it helps maintain gut integrity and supports overall health. What sets MucT apart is that its benefits extend beyond the live bacterium itself, making it a standout example of innovation in the postbiotics space. Check out the video to meet this marvelous microbe, and learn why it continues to capture the attention of microbiome researchers worldwide. Don’t miss our recent publication and article for a deeper dive into the science behind Akkermansia muciniphila MucT, alongside our Senior Director of Gut, Immune & Microbiology Jan Knol and Akkermansia pioneer Willem M. When we think of infant formula, we usually focus on what’s in it – protein, fats, vitamins… but new research is focusing on how these ingredients are being absorbed. So, we asked Gabriël Thomassen, Digestion & Absorption Scientist at Danone Research & Innovation, why it matters. Here’s what he said: “Human milk isn’t just a bunch of ingredients put together… it’s an intricate, living system! What if the structure of each nutrient was as important as the components themselves?” Inspired by the complexity of human milk, researchers from Danone R&I and Lyon University collaborated to create a model of infant digestion and then compared human milk to: a standard infant formula, an infant formula with added milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), and the Nuturis® concept formula, which contains larger phospholipid‑coated lipid droplets. “We found that larger droplets enriched with phospholipids get broken down very differently than the smaller, simpler droplets in standard formulas. This, in turn, influences how fats are digested and how energy and nutrients become available to our little ones,” Gabriel explains. These new insights open new paths for advancing nutrition solutions that better support infant growth and development. “We know that lab models can’t fully capture the complexity of the infant gut, but what matters to us is that this research provides a strong foundation for future clinical research linking nutrient structure to health outcomes,” Gabriel concludes.
