Winter does something predictable to school attendance, and our CEO Molly Hebert Loyd wants every district ready this year. ❄️ In her new blog, “Let’s Make This the Winter Students Stay Connected,” Molly describes moments every district leader knows: a sister staying home with a sick brother, a seventh grader facing a mile-long walk in a thin jacket, and a family stretched by heating bills over the holiday break. As Molly writes, “No single moment looks like a crisis. Together, they add up to a chronically absent student.” The hopeful part? Winter absenteeism follows a pattern we see every year, so districts have time to prepare. The window is open right now. The most important conversations about why a student stopped coming to school rarely happen over a text message. 📱 They happen at a kitchen table. At the front door. In a language a family is actually comfortable speaking, with someone who came to listen and not to check a box. 🚪 That has always been true, and it's why our model has centered on one simple idea from day one: show up in person when digital outreach isn't enough. With Concentric360, that same idea now works at the scale of an entire community. Automated outreach handles what it can quickly and affordably in the languages families speak. But when that is not enough, a real person picks up where the outreach leaves off: a trained Professional Student Advocate, at the door, there to understand a family's story. 16% of young adults are considered "disconnected" or NEET, not in employment, education, or training, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. 📊 That's not a small gap. It is millions of young people. But that statistic doesn't tell you the part that matters most: disconnection rarely has a single cause. It's a housing situation that unraveled. A caregiving responsibility that quietly took over a teenager's schedule. A health challenge no one at school ever heard about. Economic pressure that made "just go to class" feel impossible some days. For decades, most of the tools available to schools, cities, and workforce boards were built to catch the symptom (the missed day, the dropped case), not the reason behind it. 📣 Big news from one of our district partners: Linden Public Schools in New Jersey is expanding its work with Concentric Educational Solutions districtwide, scaling a program that started as a pilot at Linden High School to every school in the district. 🏫 What began as a pilot has grown into a real system, one that identifies the actual barriers keeping students from attending school and helps LPS strategize how to remove them, so impacted students can reconnect to learning. Now, Superintendent Dr. Atiya Y.
