🇺🇸 In New York for UNGA on 22 September? Join ClientEarth and the Global Commons Alliance for a breakfast panel discussion on The New Security Agenda: Clean Energy, Nature Restoration, and Economic Security. 🥐 Breakfast provided. ⬇️ Registration in comments. ⚡️ National security is no longer just about defence. It is also about clean energy, healthy ecosystems, resilient supply chains, and communities that can withstand climate shocks. 🌎 As climate change, biodiversity loss, and geopolitical instability reshape national priorities, governments are increasingly recognising that energy security, economic resilience, and environmental stewardship are deeply interconnected. 🏛️ We'll explore how governments can strengthen strategic resilience by reducing fossil fuel dependence, restoring nature, and accelerating the transition to clean, renewable energy systems. #UNGA #ClimateSecurity #EnergySecurity #NatureRestoration #CleanEnergy #EconomicSecurity

This year’s United Nations General Assembly comes at a particularly consequential moment. Geopolitical tensions, energy security concerns and growing pressure on the international rules-based order are reshaping the way we think about security. In this context, climate change and the energy transition cannot be treated as separate from the security debate. The resilience of our energy systems, access to clean and affordable energy, and the protection of the natural systems are increasingly questions of strategic security. I’m therefore very pleased to be joining the discussion in New York on 22 September for “The New Security Agenda: Clean Energy, Nature Restoration and Economic Security”, organised by ClientEarth and the Global Commons Alliance during UNGA. Together with Ilona Szabó de Carvalho, Luc Bas and other speakers, we will discuss how clean energy, nature restoration, and resilient food and water systems can contribute to security and economic resilience in an increasingly volatile world. I’ll be bringing an energy-sector perspective to the conversation, including how law and regulation can help build more resilient energy systems and accelerate the transition away from fossil-fuel dependence. If you’re in New York for UNGA, I’d be very happy to see you there. 📅 22 September 🍎 New York City 🔗 More information and registration: https://lnkd.in/eYjp5dVm And if you’ll be around during UNGA week, feel free to reach out - it would be great to connect!

I still remember my first days at UN Headquarters in 2008. So much has changed since then… including the way we think about security. The past few months have been a powerful reminder that climate action, energy transition and nature protection are increasingly central to our resilience, prosperity and security. So, if you’ll be in New York for the UN General Assembly on 22 September, I’d love to invite you to a timely conversation: Can climate and nature solutions help address today’s most pressing security and sustainability challenges? Join ClientEarth and Global Commons Alliance for a breakfast panel: “The New Security Agenda: Clean Energy, Nature Restoration and Economic Security” For more info and to register visit: https://lnkd.in/eYjp5dVm Confirmed speakers so far: - Ilona Szabó de Carvalho, Co-founder and President of the Instituto Igarapé - Dr Wojciech Modzelewski, PhD, Lawyer Public Finance, Energy Markets and Competition ClientEarth - Luc Bas, Director of Belgium’s Cerac - Climate Risk Assessment Center and Chief Planetary Officer We’ll explore how clean energy, nature restoration, and resilient food and water systems can strengthen strategic resilience and advance planetary stewardship in an increasingly volatile world. A new security agenda needs to look beyond traditional borders — and at the systems that underpin our economies, societies and shared future. ++ Will you be in NYC for UNGA? Let’s connect 🙏
