Every simple purchase, renewal, seat add, and plan upgrade your team processes by hand is time it isn't spending on new business and larger deals. Across a whole customer base, that adds up. In our 2026 Cost of Selling Software report, more than a third of software sellers said they spend six hours or more processing a typical transaction on standard terms. In a demo, we'll show how customers can complete those routine purchases online, so your team can focus on the deals that need them, like multi-year agreements, custom pricing, and special terms.

When a $5,000 renewal goes through the same process as a $500,000 one, you pay big-deal costs on small-deal revenue. Across hundreds of small renewals, that adds up to real margin. Cyncly eliminated 7,000 manual renewals a month with digital renewal automation from Cleverbridge, while growing orders 131% year over year. In a demo, we'll show how to take small renewals online, without the manual quote, approval, and invoice steps.

When customer success is stretched across a long tail of smaller accounts, the biggest accounts get the attention. By the time someone reaches the rest, some have already decided not to renew. Yet two-thirds of software buyers in our 2026 Cost of Selling Software report said they'd handle renewals themselves through self-serve. Red Hat's NPS rose from 50 to 73 after it moved from fragmented renewal outreach to fully automated renewals with Cleverbridge. In a demo, we'll show how smaller accounts can renew online, so your team can focus on the accounts that actually need them.

SaaS has been stuck in a slow-moving unit economics crisis. The median margin-adjusted CAC payback period among public SaaS co’s sits at 44 months. It’s barely budged in years. Put differently, it takes more than 3.5 years for even the best companies to recover their sales & marketing costs. That’s if customers choose to stick around! I’ve always asked about unit economics, but I never paid much attention to *transaction* economics. This means how much of a deal gets carved off for commissions, partner rev shares, credit card fees, you name it. It turns out this can make a big difference, especially when AI margins are thin. My friends at Cleverbridge recently investigated transaction economics at 608 software sellers. What they found: > Sales reps get 13% of first-year contract value > Partners and resellers take an average of 24% of deal value > Cloud marketplaces capture a 9% take rate These costs are justifiable for a new deal. But what about a $400 usage top-up that comes 8 months later? I’m not so sure… As usage-based and hybrid pricing models explode, so do the number of routine transactions (overages, true-ups, credit packs). It’s a good time to take a fresh look at the costs of your GTM channels. We unpacked the most interesting findings from the Cleverbridge report. I used to think there was a clear $ threshold where people shift from preferring self-serve to wanting to speak to an actual person. I’m not so sure anymore, and here’s why. Deal size used to predict when sales got involved. Now even a free trial could require a security and compliance review. At the same time, some buyers are comfortable spending thousands of dollars per month without ever talking to someone (yay, PLG). I worked with one portco where a customer spent >$100k all through self-serve. Anecdotally, this is happening even more with AI products. Well, we finally have data on this via my friends at Cleverbridge (full disclosure, I’m a #cleverbridgepartner). They just surveyed 608 software sellers and 551 software buyers. What the data says: > 4% would only be comfortable with self-serve purchases <$1k > 20% would be comfortable with $1-$5k purchases > 24% would be comfortable with $5-$25k purchases > 36% would be comfortable with $25-$100k purchases > 17% would go above $100k (🤯) The appetite for self-serve* is real. B2B buyers are just consumers at work. Many of us (👋) want fast, frictionless, and available 24x7. There’s a bunch more data in the full report around revenue mix by channel, efficiency, and buyer preferences. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gkzAWSrV *PS, this isn’t just about new purchases. Self-serve can be great for routine renewals and simple upgrades. #sponsoredpost
