Most security programs have spent the last decade getting authentication right. MFA, SSO, conditional access, the front door is solid. What’s quietly fallen behind is authorization, what an identity can actually do once it’s inside. At most companies that logic is scattered across application code, owned by whoever last touched it, with no single view of who can reach what. So when a regulator or an audit committee asks where you stand, the honest answer is usually “I’ll get back to you.” That gap, between what your documentation says and what actually runs in production, is where a lot of breaches now start. And in this layer, when something goes wrong, it’s the security leader who answers for it. So I built a benchmark to fix that: ✅ It places your program on a four-stage scale, from ad-hoc to fully governed ✅ At each stage it shows how exposed you are to each major regulator (NIS2, DORA, SEC, the EU AI Act), so you can see what a gap would actually cost you ✅ There’s also a 15-question self-assessment to find your starting point, and a 90-day plan so you can close the gaps before one becomes the breach you get named in It comes out of the work we do at Cerbos with security teams in regulated industries, major identity and security events, and the OpenID AuthZEN standard I help shape. 97% of organizations that reported an AI breach had no AI access controls in place. Not weak controls. No controls. AI agents don't create new security problems. They amplify the ones you already have, at machine speed, massively in parallel. 29 million secrets leaked on GitHub last year, up 34%, largely driven by AI agent credential sprawl. At Cerbos we give teams full control over what every AI agent can access, with the ability to revoke it in seconds through policy. Over a billion authorization checks a month, used by companies like Utility Warehouse, Culture Amp and Envoy, across thousands of services. See how to secure your AI agents with authorization 👇

76% of CISO decisions come down to personal risk mitigation. AI agents with unchecked access are a new way for that risk to land on your desk. At Cerbos we give teams full control over what every AI agent can access, with the ability to revoke it in seconds through policy. Over a billion authorization checks a month, used by companies like Utility Warehouse, Culture Amp and Envoy, across thousands of services. See how to secure your AI agents with authorization ⬇️

Fictional company. Real AI agent failures. When an AI agent at your company crosses boundaries it shouldn't, the AI isn't the one explaining it to your board.

What happens when a $14 billion company replaces 40% of its workforce with AI agents and skips the authorization layer. The company is fictional. Every detail in the story is based on real AI agent failures. When an AI agent at your company touches data it shouldn't, the AI isn't the one explaining it to your board.
