What happens after the lead comes in matters just as much as how it got there. This month’s Centerfield Insights newsletter takes a closer look at the gap between paid leads and real conversations, and why AI may be ready to help close it. We’re sharing benchmark data, practical takeaways, and a sharper view of where human bandwidth starts to fall short. Go deeper on why so many leads never become customers with our CTO, Aniketh Parmar, and subscribe to read the full issue: https://lnkd.in/gKpBvczd #CenterfieldInsights #Newsletter #AI #Leads

At Centerfield, we've been building editorial authority for 15 years — long before AI search became a marketing channel. Today, those same properties — 90+ independent review sites across home services, insurance, senior care, and B2B — are the sources AI pulls from when buyers ask for recommendations. That's not a coincidence. It's the foundation behind our AI Discovery offering: a program that helps brands build the third-party presence needed to show up in AI-generated answers. 74 million AI citations earned last year. 40% higher conversion from AI-referred traffic. And the measurement infrastructure to prove it. In the clip below, Andrew Garcia, Sr. Director of Organic Growth, unpacks the marketing strategy shift this moment is demanding — and why the brands that get considered are increasingly the ones that show up in sources buyers and AI already trust. Getting recommended by AI is only half the battle. Owning the search that follows is the other half. Much of the conversation around AI search assumes consumers will move directly from an AI answer to a decision. In reality, we're seeing something different. Consumers are using AI for discovery and search for validation. SEMrush recently found that 47% of consumers use AI to narrow down their options before turning to search engines for reviews, pricing, and additional information. Another 40% search for more information after a brand is mentioned by AI, while 36% use search to compare that brand against alternatives. Search isn't disappearing from the journey. It's becoming a different part of the journey. That distinction matters because a branded search may no longer simply indicate awareness. It may indicate that a consumer is actively validating a recommendation they first encountered elsewhere. It also changes the stakes of being present in search. If a consumer searches for your brand after discovering it through AI, that is often one of the highest-intent moments in the journey. If you are not occupying that position, someone else can. One of the themes we're seeing more frequently at Centerfield is that AI visibility and search performance are becoming increasingly difficult to separate. Brands that treat them as independent channels risk missing how consumers are actually making decisions. If your branded search volume doubled tomorrow, would you know how much of that growth came from AI-driven discovery? #AISearch #GEO #PerformanceMarketing #Centerfield

Welcome to the first edition of the “$100M Marketplace Club.” The brands quietly doing massive numbers online that most consumers have never heard of. First up: Beetles Gel Polish. Heard of them? Estimated Amazon revenue data suggests Beetles is doing well over $100M annually selling gel nail polish, nail kits, press-ons, and accessories. No massive brand awareness campaign. No traditional beauty retail dominance. No celebrity founder. Instead: -highly searchable product catalog -endless assortment expansion -aggressive marketplace optimization -strong review velocity -low-AOV impulse-friendly products -products designed for repeat purchase + discovery loops They also sit in a category that works incredibly well for marketplaces: high-frequency demand, visual discovery, trend cycles, and constant new keyword creation. This is the part of ecommerce I think people underestimate. Marketplaces are creating an entirely new class of brands…Companies that are operationally enormous without being culturally famous. The next generation of $100M brands may not look like legacy consumer brands at all. Should I keep posting more $100M Marketplace Club Member stories?
