Join Colorado Law Professor P. Deep Gulasekaram as he discusses: (1) racial profiling in immigration jurisprudence, from its origins in border enforcement to its current use in major American cities, (2) the disjuncture between race-conscious immigration enforcement under the Fourth Amendment and colorblind college admissions after the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in SFFA v. Harvard, in which the Court concluded that a person’s race may not be considered as a criterion under the Equal Protection doctrine, and (3) the relationship between so-called “sanctuary” laws and federal responses, including race-conscious immigration enforcement, national guard deployments, DOJ litigation against municipalities, and grant claw-back attempts by federal agencies against non-cooperating jurisdictions. Pozner on Cross: The Chapter Method, is a unique and entertaining program that teaches advanced methods to recognize, write, and deliver winning cross-examinations. Pozner believes powerful cross-examinations are the result of the application of well-understood techniques. These techniques can easily be learned and immediately used by lawyers regardless of their number of trials or years of practice. Building on principles of neuroscience and behavioral psychology, Pozner will explain how to turn cross-examination into storytelling, and how those stories will cause jurors, judges, or arbitrators to make decisions based on the facts they vividly recall. This highly polished seminar enables participants to easily learn these advanced techniques, and to be able to immediately employ them in their current cases. REGISTER NOW! https://ow.ly/pjrc50X2lO0

The closing keynote at a legal retreat rarely stops attorneys in their tracks. This one might. On Saturday, June 13, Professor Emerita Mary Radford of Georgia State University College of Law takes the stage at the Eldorado Hotel for "What If Granny Wants to Gamble? Older Clients with Diminishing Capacity and Elder Financial Abuse" — submitted for 1.2 Ethics Credits and positioned as the capstone of the 2026 Santa Fe Convergence. This is not a survey lecture. Radford has spent a career at the intersection of capacity, exploitation, and the ethical obligations attorneys carry when a client's decision-making is no longer what it once was. The questions she raises do not have clean answers: When does autonomy yield to protection? Who decides? And what does the attorney owe the client when the client's judgment is compromised but their instructions are clear? Estate planning attorneys navigate this terrain. Elder law practitioners live in it. When both groups are in the same room — as they will be for the first time in the histories of these two retreats — the conversation that follows a keynote like this one becomes something genuinely different. That is the singular value of the 2026 Santa Fe Convergence, the first-ever joint event combining CBA-CLE's 18th Annual Elder Law Retreat and 46th Annual Estate Planning Retreat. Three days. Eighteen general CLE credits. Less than two weeks remain.
