The substance use crisis isn't coming to the workplace. It's already here. Next Wednesday 11/12 in San Diego, Carrum Health's Chief Network Officer Christoph Dankert joins a critical conversation at the Behavioral Health Tech Conference on a topic many employers are still learning about: Substance Use—The Hidden Workforce Crisis Employers Can't Afford to Ignore. The reality is stark. Substance use permeates every industry and staff level. The window for effective intervention is razor-thin: catch someone early and you can restore productivity and lives. Miss it, and the costs, both human and financial, become exponential. We earned stage time through a competitive selection process to address this urgent topic, along with: Arundhati Parmar, Editor-in-Chief, MedCity News (moderator) Richard Mayes, Managing Director of Health & Wellness, United Airlines Jon G. Caldwell, D.O., Ph.D., Psychiatrist and Addiction & Trauma Expert What the panelists will cover: 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬: Rick will share employer perspective from United Airlines, about the importance of supporting employees. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: Christoph will explain how identifying and partnering with high-quality, evidence-based treatment centers—versus predatory facilities with arbitrary pricing and poor outcomes—can reduce out-of-network costs dramatically while improving recovery rates. 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫: Dr. Caldwell will unpack how unlike with other health conditions, addiction still carries fear and shame. The panel will demonstrate how reframing substance use as a chronic disease, no different than cancer or diabetes, empowers employees to seek help and organizations to support them effectively. With 29 million U.S. employees struggling with substance use disorder, this isn't a niche issue. It's a workforce imperative. If you're attending the Behavioral Health Tech Conference in San Diego, we hope to see you there. This is a conversation every employer needs to be part of. #behavioralhealthtech #substanceusedisorder #employerbenefits #workforcehealth #valuebasedcare

🚨 BIG NEWS: Carrum has been chosen by the State of Tennessee as the COE solution after a thorough vetting process. Tennessee joins several other forward-thinking state employers, including the States of Maine and Nevada, in contracting with Carrum. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐦’𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 1 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. State employers invest significant time and resources in issuing requests for proposals, scrutinizing vendors and researching how well they fit their needs. Their top concerns include the high cost of healthcare, the problems with wasted dollars, low-value care, diagnostic errors, inconsistent quality and a lack of adherence to nationally recognized guidelines for care. Like many corporate employers, states have recognized that to better manage costs, it’s necessary to offer members access to top-performing, high-quality providers who prioritize appropriate care that results in positive health outcomes. The Tennessee State Government joins the State of Maine which has trusted Carrum since 2019, and State of Nevada which chose Carrum in 2023. Today, we proudly announced Carrum Health’s major expansion which brings 90% of Americans within 50 miles of a Carrum Centers of Excellence, which has been built with C.A.R.E. We scaled our value-based COE model by tailoring it for each specialty, expanding to 1,000+ locations and managing 40% of employer medical spend. This milestone came to fruition thanks to the Never Give Up attitude of every Carrumite who relentlessly pursues our mission to disrupt the flawed fee-for-service system and tackle tough problems. With this dramatic growth, Carrum can now serve more members than ever before - but access alone will not solve the heightened needs of employers who also demand a solution with quality, integrity and transparency. By staying true to its long-established reputation as the quality leader in the COE space, Carrum’s network expansion milestone was achieved with a differentiated approach anchored in C.A.R.E. “Many employers have recognized Centers of Excellence as one of the optimal tools in the toolkit to deliver tangible impact. Carrum Health’s investment to significantly expand access to its COE network is a timely development that will help employers bring high-quality care to even more of their members while meaningfully decreasing spend,” said Ellen Kelsay, President and CEO of Business Group on Health. #IntheNews It’s on the record! Marissa Plescia reports on how Carrum now has 5 million lives on our platform, of which our public sector footprint is over 1 million lives. Her story for MedCity News highlights our traction with public sector employers, as well as our investment in expanding our C.A.R.E. network to 1,000+ locations which offers improved access to our members. Here’s a peek at some of the nuggets in the story. On state employers choosing Carrum: Tennessee vetted Carrum over the last nine to 12 months and selected the company because of its “focus on quality, negotiating value-based payment contracts with providers and local coverage,” said Sach Jain, Carrum Health’s founder and CEO. On the challenges we faced in tackling diverse areas of complex care: “As employers demanded a broader solution, we had to roll up our sleeves and figure out a model that on one side will deliver on our promise to make providers accountable for the cost and quality of care they are delivering for those specialties, but also be acceptable to the providers, so that they see the value in the model and work with us. And that just takes time.” Here’s the full story: https://lnkd.in/geWvJfQi #valuebasedcare #publicsectoremployers #companynews
