Canopy’s Hot Button Progress Report 2026 shows continued progress across the man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) sector, with 22 of 28 producers now achieving Green Shirt status. At the same time, Next Generation fibres made from materials like recycled textiles and agricultural residues are gaining momentum, with 20 product lines now on the market. Why does this matter? Climate change, extreme weather, tariffs and geopolitical uncertainty are making traditional fibre supply less predictable. Moving more volume into Next Gen fibres can help brands build more resilient supply chains and prepare for what’s ahead. The opportunity is here. The brands that act now can get ahead of the shift. Join Nicole Rycroft, Founder and Executive Director of Canopy, and Dr. Suzanne Simard, author of Finding the Mother Tree, for an immersive day exploring the connections between forests, fashion, innovation, and the future of materials. As part of the 2026 Textile Exchange Conference, we’re heading into one of British Columbia’s spectacular coastal temperate rainforests to look more closely at what a forest-positive future for fashion can mean — from protecting Ancient and Endangered Forests to Indigenous stewardship and the Next Generation solutions transforming material supply chains. 🌲 Explore Lighthouse Park and hear insights from forest experts, Indigenous knowledge holders, and conservation partners. 🌲 Discover the often-hidden connection between forests and fashion — and why shifting material supply chains away from vital forests matters. 🌲 Learn how innovation and collaboration can accelerate the development and adoption of Next Generation alternatives. 🌲 Continue the conversation over a plant-based lunch before visiting Canopy’s Next Generation Solutions showcase at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It’s a chance to step outside the conference room, experience the forest firsthand, and connect the dots between the ecosystems we depend on and the materials our industry chooses. 📍 Vancouver 📅 October 16 | 9 AM–4 PM 🎟️ Open to registered Textile Exchange Conference participants. Field trip registration and payment are separate from conference registration. Spaces are limited. Register by October 9: https://lnkd.in/efAekqtg #TEConference2026 #NextGenSolutions

Big news from #ClimateWeekNYC! Today, Canopy joined The Climate Pledge, Amazon, and Stella McCartney to launch the Climate Pledge Fashion Coalition, a new initiative to scale more sustainable materials, reduce environmental impacts, and prevent waste across fashion supply chains. As a strategic partner, Canopy will bring expertise on forests, fibre, supply chains, and textile-to-textile recycling. Canopy’s contributions to the Coalition build on more than a decade of CanopyStyle collaboration, where brands and man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) producers have collaborated with us to end sourcing from vital forests. Today, 79% of MMCF producers are rated Green Shirt in our annual Hot Button Report. We’re excited to add the leverage of the Climate Pledge Fashion Coalition to our ongoing CanopyStyle initiative to unlock more sustainable fashion supply chains. "We're told supply chains change slowly – we want to challenge that. With the right conditions, they've changed in years, not decades. The Next Gen transition won't happen brand-by-brand, it will be unlocked by collective action." – Nicole Rycroft, Founder and Executive Director, Canopy The next challenge? Next Gen fibres take pressure off Ancient and Endangered Forests, but producers need to see demand before they invest in new capacity. By bringing together more than 50 fashion brands, manufacturers, and material innovators, the Coalition will signal demand, share what works, and bring policymakers evidence that upstream innovation deserves support. A different kind of Climate Week conversation. Wrapping Day 1 of #ClimateWeekNYC. Canopy's Founder and Executive Director, Nicole Rycroft, on the spirit of the week: we spend so much time naming the problem that we forget to notice how much is already in motion. Today was a reminder of what it looks like when that motion is shared. Despite the geopolitical turbulence and uncertainty shaping the business landscape, the conversation wasn’t focused on doom and gloom. Leaders shared the milestones, breakthroughs, and progress they’ve made over the past year and what they’re excited about next. One takeaway stood out: Sustainability is increasingly being understood as a business strategy for resilience. Hear Nicole’s Day 1 reflections below, and stay tuned for more from New York. #NewYorkClimateWeek #Sustainability #ClimateAction
