Most people outside manufacturing have never heard of CNC sliding head turning. Many people inside manufacturing underestimate how much it matters. Here's the short version: unlike a traditional fixed-head lathe, a sliding head lathe moves the material forward through a guide bush, which supports it constantly during machining. Less vibration, tighter tolerances, and the ability to machine intricate geometries that would be nearly impossible otherwise. In practice, that means: 🔹 Multiple operations, turning, drilling, milling, in a single cycle 🔹 Less material waste and lower cost per part 🔹 A stable process that works just as well for one-off precision components as for high-volume production This is the exact technology behind most of the microparts we make for MedTech, aerospace, and electronics customers. If you've got a part that "everyone else said was too small or too complex", this is usually how we solve it.

If you've worked in procurement or engineering for any length of time, you've had this moment: a supplier promises the world during the sales process, and then disappears the second something goes wrong. We think that's the real dividing line between a supplier and a partner. A supplier ships parts. A partner picks up the phone at an inconvenient hour when something urgent comes up. A supplier hits the spec on paper. A partner is inspecting a 0.2 mm cut under a scope to make sure it actually matches the drawing, every time, not just when it's convenient. We don't always get it perfect. Designs change last minute, fixturing acts up, timelines get squeezed, that's just the reality of precision manufacturing. What matters is who's still standing there when it does. What's the moment that told you whether a supplier was actually a partner? We'd genuinely like to hear it in the comments.

The truth is: Micropart manufacturing isn’t clean and perfect – even though we want it to be. Designs change at the last minute. Fixturing acts up. A tool breaks mid-run. Timelines get squeezed. What matters isn’t pretending it’s perfect. What matters is: 👉 Who’s available when urgent questions arise, even at tough hours. 👉 Who’s inspecting 0.2mm cuts under a scope to make sure they match the drawing. 👉 Who steps in when something slips, so the client doesn’t have to. That’s the difference between a supplier and a partner. We’re not here for the headlines. We’re here to deliver critical parts, on time, and right the first time. What do you look for in a manufacturing partner when precision is non-negotiable? Share your thoughts below.

Here's a material that shouldn't work the way it does: nitinol. It's a nickel-titanium alloy with a strange property called shape memory. Bend it, deform it, and under the right temperature it returns to its original shape. Combined with its super elasticity, that makes it one of the most valuable materials in modern MedTech, especially for stents, guidewires, and orthodontic devices. At Brüsch ApS, we run fully automated processing of nitinol and stainless steel wire stents: shaping and welding, shape setting, heat treatment to transition the material's phase, automated polishing for surface cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning in medicinal water, and passivation for biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. In minimally invasive procedures, this is what allows a device to navigate narrow spaces in the body and then adapt precisely to its intended form, improving outcomes and shortening recovery times for patients. If your project involves nitinol or stainless steel and you want a partner who understands the full process, not just the machining step, let's talk. Contact our COO, Jakob Brüsch, at [email protected].

Our CEO and COO will be standing on Stand 6 in Galway, ready to talk about your next MedTech project. Jakob Brüsch and Gitte Brusch will be representing Brüsch ApS at Medical Technology Ireland, and this year we're bringing more than a stand banner. We're bringing real conversations about what it takes to manufacture stents, implantable components, orthopaedic bone-cutting tools, and micro-precision CNC components without compromising on regulatory compliance or delivery reliability. As an ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 certified partner producing exclusively in Denmark, we've spent years building the kind of traceability and process control that MedTech projects actually require, not just the kind that looks good in a sales deck. 📍 Medical Technology Ireland, Galway 📍 Stand 6, Ground Floor If you're attending, come find us. If you're not, but you've got a project brewing, reach out to our COO, Jakob Brüsch, at [email protected], and let's set up time before or after the show.
